Tipsy Trout

“Dined here after checking in at the Lodge at Spruce Peak. The kids both got the Tipsy Stix which are rice flour dredged fish sticks. I could tell they were made fresh with huge strips of fresh fish. We got a volcano poke bowl to start and it was tastier than expected. Fish was fresh. Hubby got the fish sandwich which had a different batter than the kids meal tipsy sticks. The trout piccata was good although I could have used a lot more lemony capery sauce. All around very delicious and a good size.”

“Lisa made us feel very welcome and was such a pleasure to speak to on top of such a wonderful experience! Delicious food (literally scraped the plates clean) my boyfriend got the lobster pot pie and I got the stuffed cod. For appetizer we got the crab sliders sooo yummy! The drinks were all delicious and so was the dessert (apple Cristada) . Such a a wonderful experience, we will definitely be back before our vacación is over! Thank you Lisa”

“Their food menu is small but mighty. their drink menu is extensive. Definitely glad I picked this spot for dinner! The sushi rolls are 2-bite open rolls (like a sushi taco, if you must) And the yellowtail was fruity and cheerful and simply delicious!”

“It may just been this single evening, but I found there were many areas that could be improved upon. First - let's talk food. I had the beet salad which was okay - that would have been a solid 3. I also had the tandoori trout. Here I found the tandoori didn't come through well and the trout texture was rendered mushy if you will by the preparation. In addition - as it was a semi whole fish instead of filet, you had bones and scale to contend with, making the experience less than ideal. With service, I understand it was busy and maybe they were under staffed but the attention was lacking in everyway - from ordering, next plate, refilling water. Atmosphere wise, it was certainly lively - perhaps a bit too loud - making the meal a bit distracting. Again it may just be this evening with the large crowds. Overall if I were to try again I would definitely get another dish.”

“Wow. We had a drink at the bar on a Friday night and heard that this was open only on Saturday. The strangers at the bar who come here every year were very excited about eating here on Saturday so I made a reservation with a $15 per person cancellation fee. I was surprised to see that it’s only poke and ramen when I arrived. I thought fish place would have normal cooked fish. But…. Instead, they had non-sushi grade poke that I am sure was not properly chilled before to eliminate parasites. How do I know? Sushi grade salmon doesn’t have brown fatty parts on it. You cannot have those on a sushi grade salmon. Why do I know that? I eat a lot is sushi. So, here I am, starving, with a non-grade sushi in front of me and no restaurants available for the next hour…. Anyway, long story short. Every single meal was a fail: sour chicken GREEN dumplings 🤮, edamame with sour source over it and crumbled dry garlic/onion? and terrible UNEVENLY cut salmon poor bowl. It’s bad. Very bad. Don’t come here. Now I need to take anti-parasite drug when I get home. 🤦‍♀️”
