Tlalli celebrates flavors from across Latin America, from Mexico to Argentina. We feel passionate about preserving food practices like Nixtamalization, a Pre-Hispanic process of alkalizing corn into masa, making it more nutrient dense and digestible, as well as five thousand year old fermentation techniques. As the children of immigrant mothers, we are proud of our cultural heritage and the ancestral food knowledge passed down by our relatives. We strive to honor the ancestral ingredients in familiar dishes, while adding a modern twist, like handmade hot-pink tortillas! Our bar offers an array of tropical and unexpected craft cocktails. Our atmosphere emulates the warmth of our culture, Tlalli is fun, hip, playful and sophisticated!
“Originally from LA, stopping by this cute, all-pink, indigenous family owned restaurant was a highlight of my trip. The vibe is super relaxing, unique, and welcoming ! Every dish was delicious you can really taste the love , quality in the freshly made tortillas and salsa. Their drinks are also incredibly unique and rare to find 😅😍 Excellent prices and spectacular, friendly service. I highly recommend checking this spot out, and I will absolutely be back next time I'm in town!🥹💖🫶”
“Tlalli as a restaurant is what all others aspire to be. The people are warm and inviting, the atmosphere matches the quality of the food, and even the white people of Ashland are grooving to the Latin music in their seats. The food is the best I have ever eaten. I am strongly agnostic but saw all the gods when tasting what these women craft in honor of their cultures. This is the best it gets. Eat here or you will wonder what all these reviews meant, while you’re out eating a burger.”
“Wow! What an amazing experience. From the beautiful colors and presentation of the food, to every last bite on each plate-our entire meal was incredible. I could eat those beef cheek bone marrow tacos every day for the rest of my life and still never get tired of them-they’re THAT good. Service and atmosphere were also 10/10. Go try this unique gem!”
“Ashland has plenty of restaurants to choose from. However, only one, Tlalli, offers food prepared with ancestral Latin flavors and ingredients, all served by the owners and staff with years of experience. Manya and Freddie, co-owners oversee the dining and bar with a keen attention to you ... the customer. Michelle did a great job serving us. All the corn is prepared using to ancient methods of alkalyzing. The exquisite jicama y maize salad is a great way to experience this. The cochinita pibil is a main course that pairs well with that salad. I asked Freddie for a red wine from South America and he introduced me to a very elegant Chilean red. Every table was taken when we were there, so make sure to call early for reservations.”
“Myself and my family had the opportunity to visit Tlalli last week. It was the first visit for myself and my wife. My family had been once before. The atmosphere was excellent. We ate outside as inside can be a bit loud. The outside was quite well shaded and had some misters. The drinks were excellent and the food was quite delicious and unique. The various salsas with the quite well prepared homemade chips were an excellent appetizer as well as the guacamole. However, the service was quite slow. Especially for the drinks. Our reservation was for 6:30 and both the drink special and one of the food specials were already sold out for the night. We were able to walk away with some unique coasters and were thanked for our visit on the way out by one of the owners. This is a great restaurant for those looking for a fun night out away from the downtown of Ashland.”
