“Always love the Trout Farm for breakfast after our saturday walk with the walking group. This time three of us ordered California omelets. One friend can't have gluten and they offered to sub out her toast for gluten free. Another friend ordered the breakfast burrito and another one went with the french toast.
What sets this place apart, as far as breakfast places in the Santa Cruz Mountains, is their excellent presentation - food is plated artfully. Drinks, as well. Even your coffee feels special. They serve a rich, dark coffee with you're own ceramic creamer. It just feels elevated.
Sit on the patio, if you can. They have a lovely awning to keep the sun off of you and you'll overlook a small pond/stream and lovely trees. Very picturesque - and dog friendly.
One thing we are all sad about - they are no longer offering their signature cinnamon rolls. It's honestly the main reason I dream about this place! People: these are the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. They are soft, chewy, sweet and buttery with the perfect blend of cinnamon. They are labor intensive, we were told, so they're no longer on the menu. Hoping they bring them back - if only for special occasions. 🙏🏼🙌🙏🏼
This place is good for brunch - only served on the weekends - and lunch and dinner, daily. It's such a great space. The vibe is very relaxing and beautiful. Like a restaurant at a resort. The food is solid, all around. Go! You're in for a treat!”

“Enjoyed the lovely patio overlooking the creek after waiting just a short while for a table. We enjoyed waiting at the bar while a Giants game was on tv. The bartender was friendly and made a couple great drinks. Seated above the creek is completely separate from the pool area. We would love sitting inside near fireplace in the winter! Our server was friendly, kept waters filled. Food came quickly and tasted great. This is a hidden gem of a spot and we felt like we were very far from home - and we live 10 min away.”

“Oh, the Trout Farm was lovely, with trees up above,
A place full of charm that you just want to love.
The outside was peaceful, the view was a win,
I walked in with hope and a big hungry grin.
The food? It was great — I’ll give them their due.
Each bite hit the mark, and the drinks did too.
But the inside? Oh no… it just missed the mark,
Like a lunchroom that never quite found its spark.
It felt kind of cold, a bit thrown together,
Not cozy, not warm — more cafeteria than clever.
A makeover’s needed, or a new set of eyes,
To match all the beauty that sits right outside.
Now the service — oh boy. It was slow, slow, slow.
So slow, in fact, that time seemed to go.
Our waiter was kind, but clearly quite new,
And every review said the same thing too.
You’ll wait for your food, you’ll wait for your drink,
You’ll wait long enough to just sit there and think.
The owner was there, but oddly aloof,
With all of the staff rushing under one roof.
They hustled and scrambled and did what they could,
But one extra hand would have really do.
For prices that high and portions that small,
You’d hope for more polish, more rhythm, more all.
Still, the meal was quite good, and the setting’s a plus,
It just needs some love — not a whole lot, just thus.

“Back in the day, this was a rustic kind of funky place, then it burned down and now with attempt to be a high end place. Being a solo diner has challenges. I went there after a rigorous hike wanting to try something different than the Cowboy etc. So since it's the Trout Form Inn, I ordered the trout. It was a full trout with head, cooked with lemon in between. Not butterflied. So there were many bones to pick out. It came with a pile of dry arugula for $30. No seasoning at all, that can be a good thing. The trout was yummy and fresh. I ordered a side of rice and got fries that looked yummy so I kept them.
I got there at 4pm-ish, there was no one at the hostess station, so I went to the bar. The bartender and staff look to be college kids. The bartender took care of me mostly. He was Ok. The bar area was LOUD and COLD! Kick ass AC!! Loud music was obnoxious, but that's just me. Anyway, It's an Ok place.
One more, since I was solo I asked about eating outside because there were a LOT of empty tables and was looking for a quiet place that wasn't freezing cold. I was told those tables were reserved. Ok, fine. when I left about 80% of the outside tables were empty.
For me, no need to go back there.”

“Extremely disappointing experience, largely due to poor management and unacceptable wait times. We arrived to a half-empty restaurant, yet it took 15-20 minutes just to get our drinks and over an hour to get our food.
The worst part was the customer service. When I spoke to the manager about the delay, she was visibly annoyed and inhospitable. She offered zero apologies and instead blamed "Father's Day," even though the restaurant was less than half full. To top it off, the food wasn't worth the wait—if you do go, avoid the trout, as the portion is incredibly tiny. I cannot recommend a place that treats its paying customers as an annoyance.”
