Tucked away in an alley just steps from Main Street in the heart of downtown Canmore, 4296 is an intimate and elevated dining concept created by Chef Blake Flann. This modern mountain project brings together a culmination of Blake’s personal culinary history. 4296 is an elevated restaurant with an emphasis on cocktails, serving pop culture cuisine inspired by the ever changing global food scene.
“4296 is absolutely worth every bit of the hype. After hearing so many great things about this restaurant, we finally decided to try it for ourselves, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was incredible—elegant, welcoming, and unique without feeling pretentious. The ambiance alone makes for a memorable dining experience. The food was outstanding. Every dish was beautifully presented, packed with flavor, and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell that a lot of creativity and passion goes into the menu. The cocktails were equally impressive and can’t wait to try more of them next time. What really stood out was the value. While this is definitely a destination dining experience, every dollar felt well spent. The quality of the food, service, and overall experience made it completely worth it. If you are visiting Canmore or even just passing through, make a reservation and experience it for yourself. We’ll definitely be back. One of the best dining experiences we’ve had in the Canadian Rockies!!”
“This restaurant is a treat to come to every time we are in Canmore. The menu is fantastic and has something for everyone. That said it is a perfect menu for trying lots of things and sharing - that’s exactly what we did on this visit . The crab hand rolls and crushed cucumber salad are a perfect way to start the meal. The crispy eggs are perfectly cooked and might be my favorite item on the menu despite tough competition. The peach burrata and scallops arrived for our main course and were surprisingly refreshing and light. Overall this menu feels summer-y and paired with one of their creative cocktails makes for a perfect sunset date night. I will 100% be coming back and recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Canmore!”
“One word: incredible. This was our second time here. The food is simply amazing, and the service is just wonderful. This time we had the chefs choice and every single dish was beautiful and delicious. Highly recommend coming here if you’re looking for a nice dinner out in Canmore!”
“I booked this restaurant 1.5 month in advance as the last time we tried to walk in, they were busy and didn’t have a table available till late at night, so I would suggest you reserve a table to guarantee seating. They have many offerings in the menu and we decided to go with the tasting menu which was very filling for two people! It was $110/per person and I believe $135/per person if you add wine tasting. I booked this for a late birthday celebration and I appreciate the little ice cream treat I received. The menu is great and we love the chef’s pick. I also love their cocktail options! Great place for date night. Service is great and worth the spend and experience if you’re looking for fine dining.”
“Overall, this was an average experience. The restaurant was fairly quiet with only a handful of tables, but the service still felt underwhelming. After our food arrived, no one checked back in to see how everything was (or little things like refilling our water). The food was inconsistent. The scallops, in particular, were unbalanced: a large piece of chili completely overwhelmed the caviar and the scallop’s delicate flavor, and the scallop itself was slightly overcooked by a minute or two, leaving it chewy. We ordered five dishes total and only truly enjoyed one. The others tended to feel either overwhelming, not well balanced, or lacking acidity, which made them taste a bit one-note. The mushroom cacio e pepe was especially difficult to eat: it had no acidity to cut through, and it felt like a pile of cream and cheese rather than a balanced dish. We did enjoy the first few bites of the deconstructed Big Mac. The chips were well seasoned and the steak tartar was nice, but the "special sauce" lacked nuance and was hard to taste beyond the richness and spice. The standout was the burrata with peaches, which was excellent. The restaurant was interesting to try, and the elevated comfort food angle is a fun idea, but given the service and overall execution, it felt overpriced.”
