We aim to shine a spotlight on what is produced locally and allow the food products to speak for themselves. With a true respect for the products we purchase and food we create, we seek to serve them in a simple yet sophisticated manner with the focus on appreciating the amazing bounty of our province and country. This honouring extends not solely to those people involved, but to the greater environment and life of the planet as a whole. We aim to create flavours and dishes that are familiar to Canadians, but are elevated and refined. The main objective for our wine and beverage list is to offer an inspired selection of beverages that, first and foremost, compliment the food menu. Our carefully curated beer and wine menu will have offerings that are approachable and adhering to the same philosophy as the kitchen. That is, from small producers, quality focused, constantly evolving and above all, delicious. We will guide guests through our world of wine and beer in an informed and easy manner.
“First time dining at Fence & Post for our anniversary, and it was phenomenal! The service was exceptional, the steak and bison were delicious, and they have a great wine selection. The sweet treat plate they brought out for our anniversary was such a thoughtful touch. 10/10 experience — we can’t wait to come back!”
“Great experience and great food! All the staff were lovely and attentive. The garlic balloon changed our life! The Tiki Tease cocktail was unreal. The mushrooms were cooked so well that my mushroom-hating husband loved them. The mains didn't look so exciting to me on the menu, but when I ate it all together it was incredible and the flavours went together so well. So great for a special occasion!”
“We had a great dinner. We ordered the arancini, the garlic balloon, the bison, the braised beef, the basque pumpkin cheesecake and the dessert special with pistachio, chocolate and cherry. Everything was delicious, thanks to the Chef and his kitchen team. Special mention to our sweet hostess Nicole, our waitress Emma and the helper Benjamin. Everyone was super friendly and pro. We'll definitely be back!”
“We had the Arancini and Chicken 65, followed by a daily slice of carrot cake, a scoop of mango ice cream, and macarons. Everything was delicious and well presented. We truly loved the ambience, the food, and the service—such a lovely experience overall. Highly recommended!”
“I went to Cochrane to visit my mother for xmas. She very kindly took me, my sister, brother-in-law, and their two kids to Fence and Post. The room looks great. Service was prompt, knowledgeable, and courteous. The drinks menu was very good, with some very nice beers and an emphasis on local brewers. I don't know much about wine, but Mum seemed happy with her glass of Malbec. The food. Ah, the food. It was so refreshing to see a menu from a chef with such an understanding of flavours and textures, not to mention plating. Upscale but not at all pretentious. I tried two appetisers: the Chicken 65, which was excellent, and the Brussels sprouts, which were outstanding. If I had to nitpick, I'd say that the pickled onions on the sprouts, coupled with the gastrique they were tossed in was just a wee bit too much acidity, but that's seriously reaching on my part. All in all, one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in probably the last decade.”
