“I am visiting rehoboth beach from out of town & every time I googled places to eat along the boardwalk, above the dunes is always highly recommended & let me tell you, they deserve that recommendation! Our server Emma was very nice, checked in on us without being intrusive or hovering & made genuine conversation with us. We decided to sit outside on the balcony, because even though it was 90ish degrees outside, how can you refuse that view of the ocean?? We ordered the bacon wrapped jalapeños w/cream cheese to start & it was so sooo good. I got the blackened shrimp tacos w/rice & beans & my husband got the chicken caprese sandwich with homemade chips. Everything was so flavorful, seasoned well, and cooked to perfection. We were both very impressed overall!”

“We had a fantastic experience at Above The Dunes! The panoramic ocean views from upstairs are absolutely stunning and set the perfect relaxing vibe for a great meal by the beach. Our server, Michelle, was excellent—friendly, knowledgeable, and provided top-notch service from start to finish. She really made our visit enjoyable and took great care of us. The oyster happy hour was a highlight! Fresh, flavorful oysters at a fantastic price—definitely worth it. We also loved the crushes—they were delicious, perfectly balanced, and so refreshing. Everything we tried hit the mark. Between the beautiful setting, attentive service, and great food and drinks, Above The Dunes is a winner. Whether you're stopping in for happy hour or a full meal, this spot delivers. Highly recommend, especially if you're in the Dewey/Rehoboth area. We'll definitely be back!”

“I came to Rehoboth Beach in the off season to do some exploring, and found this place on google. It had a super nice sort of modern beach vibe inside. The real draw is the deck outside. I was there from 11 to probably 4 having a great time, watching the people walk around. Super good time. Phillip my server was attentive without hovering. I really enjoyed my fried calamari ($19). The spicy thai dipping sauce was just the right amount of spicy for me. I also enjoyed my crab cake sandwich ($28). The limoncello spritz was nothing to write home about, so I switched to beer after that. Happy hour starts at 1:00 pm, and the beer is a dollar off which is a great deal. I definitely recommend it.”

“I had a very mediocre time at Above the Dunes Rehoboth Beach. To start off the service was impeccable. Our server was courteous, funny and kind and made sure we had everything we needed. All the staff were welcoming and heightened the experience. Sadly the actual food experience was very disappointing. I ordered a Wagyu burger cooked medium well, but was surprised with what seemed to be cow straight from the barn. My burger was disappointingly undercooked, some might even say raw. To be Frank I was very disappointed in how my burger turned out. Sadly the ailments were not reserved to just me. Two members of my group received lobster that was not fully cooked. It was sent back to the kitchen to finish cooking. While the service was fast, I would’ve appreciated the extra few minutes to complete cooking the meal. Another pain that I have with the food is how bland it was. My $24 burger only had a tomato and arugula on it. For the price I was expecting a little bit more, and as with most about Above the Dunes I was sadly disappointed. The sides are also very hard to switch out, and if you want any say in the matter you will have to pay upwards of $8. The prices were very high for the food that we received. The atmosphere was very chill. We attended on a week night when it was not very busy but there was still a great atmosphere. From everywhere in the restaurant there are great views of the ocean, especially during sunrise/sunset. It was clean and organized and the servers were very kind. Overall as I said before a very mediocre experience. The service and atmosphere were good but the food sadly brought it down. I wouldn’t go back.”

“Yesterday we decided to have dinner here. I was super excited with my family about the reviews. Totally disappointed, first we arrived without prior reservation and the hostess told us that they had 2 hours of waiting. We went to the website and obtained a reservation with a waiting time of 40 minutes. Our waitress was amazing, very attentive. The food had no flavor we ordered 3 different dishes. We ordered the sea bass one of the most expensive dishes on the menu and the presentation was very poor, the portion extremely small. I also ordered the shrimp tacos, very poor presentation, any random street tacos would have had more flavor than those, and we also ordered lobster roll which was ok/mediocre. It’s a noisy restaurant, which we knew and we were fine with that. But unfortunately the table next to us table were shouting and inappropriately conversing while having our 8-year-old daughter with us. Something we expect a family restaurant to manage in a kids-friendly beach town. We tried to get out as fast as we could. I don’t recommend it, nor would I go back to this restaurant.”
