“The location and atmosphere is what drew me to Albert's. After a busy morning walking around San Diego Zoo, it was extremely nice to have a more nutritious and relaxing indoor lunch option without having to leave the zoo. There is also a private deck with waterfall views. While most of the food is standard for an American restaurant, Albert's does a good job! If you're here on the weekend, they also offer a brunch. WAIT TIME: We had a large group of 8 and only had to wait 25ish minutes for a table on a Sunday around 1pm. You can make reservations online to make the wait shorter. There is also seating nearby and you can look at the other animals nearby while you wait. STAFF: Our waiter, George, was extremely sweet, patient, and attentive. He made the dining experience very easy, especially for the bigger group with several allergies/dietary restrictions. GETTING TO/FROM: While there's a good amount of signage to help you get to the restaurant, there isn't as much directing you "back" to the zoo.”
“The amazing staff got us seated at the nicest table in the house, and Teresa was lovely the entire time. I got the Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl, and for a starter it’s a totally filling meal with an awesome portion of tuna. The Steak Frites were also very delicious! Overall a great experience, I wasn’t expecting too much and this definitely exceeded that!”
“We discovered Albert’s by accident about 23 years ago, and now it’s the only place we’ll eat at the Zoo. My 5-star rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ is in context of the other Zoo food options... it’s not meant to suggest it’s “best-in-San-Diego” fine dining (and definitely not an insult... we genuinely love dining at Albert’s). 😊 It can get quite busy, which can affect service, and we’ve seen the food quality ebb and flow a bit over the years. That said, we dined there today and had a wonderful lunch, with great service from the hostess and our waiter, George. Therefore I wanted give it a fresh review. The atmosphere is always fun and festive at Christmas time, too. 🎄 And for the adults... it’s a nice place to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine and take the edge off. 🍺🍷 We highly recommend Albert's - one of our favorite local traditions here in America's Finest City!”
“A really nice place tucked in the zoo. It is a bit pricey, but so are most things in the zoo. Good thing is majority of the money goes for the well-being of the animals and upkeep of the zoo. Yet it was really cool to have a meal in their outdoor patio sitting next to a waterfall and surrounded by trees. The staff were nice and the food was tasty.”
“The food is pretty good and it is probably the best place you can dine at the Zoo. Reservations are recommended as wait times can be long if you just walk up and ask for seating. Portion sizes are a bit smaller than what you would expect for an American restaurant. Restaurant has a very nice view.”
