At Antheia, fermentation is the language that connects everything we do. For Chef Briana Kim, It is a way of capturing a moment in time and transforming it into something lasting. We are a sixteen-seat fermentation R&D lab and chef's counter restaurant. With the kitchen and lab fully integrated into the dining space, we aim to create an experience that feels intimate, personal and rooted in the ongoing research of our lab. The spirit of Antheia lies in honouring traditional fermentation methods while embracing modern techniques, creating flavours that feel both timeless and new.
“Spectacular dishes, service and interior. Absolutely outstanding creativity with cuisines revolving around fermentation. Both wine and fermented beverages are worth trying as well. Briana Kim is an amazing chef!”
“Definitely the best restaurant I've ever been to. A truly outstanding dining experience. The Preservation Season menu at Antheia was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Every course was thoughtful , creative, and beautifully executed. The flavors were precise, the textures perfectly balanced, and the wine pariring was amazing ( the one from Georgia deserves special recognition) You can clearly feel the passion, care, and attention to detail behind every dish. Congratulations and thanks to the entire team for delivering such an unforgettable experience. Already looking forward to coming back to discover the next menu.”
“My fiancée and I had a wonderful evening at Antheia this past Friday. We have been wanting to try Chef Briana Kim’s food since we heard about Alice (her previous restaurant) a few years ago. The wait was well worth it—we loved this vegetarian tasting menu. We have had the pleasure to dine at some great Michelin restaurants around the world, and this is right up there with the best. The flavours were some of the most unique I’ve ever tried, with the curry & yogurt dish being the highlight for me. The chef’s table gave us the opportunity to interact with all of the talented staff at the restaurant; they were all very knowledgeable, courteous, and most importantly they seemed to be enjoying themselves. Go try out Antheia, you won’t regret it!”
“We flew down from Toronto for the weekend and, having experienced a lot of the fine dining scene there, our expectations were high and this place absolutely nailed it. The atmosphere is gorgeous and the food was incredible; every dish was packed with flavour and really interesting textures. The service was also a standout. Our waitress was extremely observant and didn't miss a beat. My only tiny critique was the miso dessert at the end. It was a bit too heavy and salty for a final course; a smaller portion or a tart sorbet to cut through the richness would have been perfect. That said, everything else was executed to perfection. 10/10 and well worth the trip!”
“I found this a very cool experience and enjoyed dining there. The food was extremely creative and interesting and I absolutely loved that it was so different from any other restaurant I've been to. It is an experience for sure. The space is beautiful. Some of the flavours were incredible (absolutely loved some of the snacks, the squash/curry/yogourt dish and the mille-feuille, and the milk bread was phenomenal). That said, I agree with the reviewer who said the wine pours felt restrictive. I actually went home after and out of curiousity measured 1, 2 and 3 oz pours in my own wine glasses and I think I can confidently say that most pours were at MOST 1oz. It was barely enough to taste with the food. Certainly there was nothing left to sip between courses. Two people getting a wine pairing, paying $165+tax+tip each (so about $220 each/$440 total for about 7oz of wine each) didn't give me a great feeling. I certainly did not come looking for a good deal but NGL, I felt a bit ripped off on the wine pairing. I think this is a really unique dining destination in Ottawa and I do recommend it for a splurge night for people who are really into food and interested in its creative possibilities. Total price paid for two people, inclusive of wine pairing and tip is about $1,040.”
