“We had a nice early dinner and the oysters, fish and chips and spaghetti with lobster were very good. By far the highlight was our friendly server whose name sadly we didn’t get. He is a charming Romanian guy and was very helpful and chatted with us a bit. Terrific service is always a nice thing. Go for that and enjoy some seafood in the heart of London.”
“We spent Saturday at the Oyster Masterclass & it was brilliant & great value. Not only did we learn how to properly shuck oysters, we got to taste a range of rock & native oysters accompanied by fizz & wine! We got to understand why oysters & where they are from taste differently & finished off with some wonderful cooked ones. Many thanks to all the staff who were exceptional and made it a such a special morning & birthday celebration. Can highly recommend to any oyster lovers out there.”
“Having spent the day in Piccadilly we decided on a bite to eat. It was rather late 16.00 but a table was available as most customers had finished. Having chosen the wine a good Muscadet Sur Lie we my wife had Shellfish Cocktail which was enjoyed ( but too much greenery) and l had Grilled Prawns very enjoyable. For mains we enjoyed Fish and Chips extremely tasty and Dove Sole goujons and chips, slightly disappointing in flavour for the goujons but enjoyable nevertheless.(apologies for snapshot) The staff were pleasant and professional service was excellent. Would l visit again, most certainly as it is a special place but either for earlier lunch or evening dinner.”
“I came here as a treat after being given a gift voucher for a free two-course meal (excluding wine, bread, etc.), and honestly, I’m so glad I did. I’ve been to Piccadilly Circus countless times since I was a kid, yet somehow never noticed this place. It’s really tucked away, which makes it feel like a hidden gem. When I arrived, the outdoor seating immediately stood out. The space was covered and heated, which I’m guessing is mainly for the colder months, but it made outdoor dining really comfortable. The staff were welcoming from the start; I mentioned my booking, gave my name and time, and was quickly shown to my table. I’d requested outdoor seating, and they even offered to move me inside if I got cold, which I appreciated. I actually ended up being the only person eating outside, which I didn’t mind at all 😂 Because of the voucher, I was given a separate menu for the two-course option. For my included courses, I chose the braised ox cheek with colcannon and cockles, followed by the crème caramel. I also ordered a crab conchigliette and sticky toffee pudding on the side. I had a sweet wine as well… which I regretted almost instantly… lesson learned 😂 To sum up all the food in one word: perfection. Everything tasted incredible. The ox cheek was unreal, so tender I barely had to chew it. I honestly devoured it in no time, no exaggeration. I’m not really a fine-dining person, so I may not have eaten very elegantly, but I enjoyed every bite. The service was professional and attentive throughout. Even though it was Boxing Day, the staff were great: polite, relaxed, and genuinely caring. They made you feel welcome regardless of whether you’re their “typical” customer, which really stood out to me. The overall vibe inside isn’t quite my thing, which is why I chose to sit outside, but that actually worked perfectly for me. It made the experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was pretty much perfect. I loved it. It’s not somewhere I could visit regularly because of the price, but as a treat, I’d absolutely come back again.”
“The oysters (not pictured) and the martinis are fabulous here. However, I wouldn’t say the rest of the menu is incredible. The fish and chips were overhyped and overpriced, with fish that was too mushy and a batter that was too yeasty. The dish with whelks was also disappointing, as flavours were not balanced, there was too much butter and whelks were served whole, and as a rather chewy mollusc, the experience of eating it was a jaw workout. Had a really nice server, but one server in particular was too loud and obnoxious which was not pleasant to have to deal with. Slightly disappointed.”
