Bistro 112 is a neighborhood French Bistro in the center of historic downtown Shepherdstown. It is a favorite of local residents and a haven for travelers passing through - who enjoy the area for its history, theater, music, biking trails, small shops and river activities. The Bistro, decorated in eclectic art, offers creative French food at affordable prices. Built in 1830, the Bistro has several dining areas: front bar, upstairs dining room, and out outdoor garden - featuring a communal table. We prepare local ingredients into French favorites such as steak frites, escargot, roasted chicken, salad niçoise, house made soups and desserts. Rooms are available for private events.
“I spent a morning at Bistro 112 while I had some time to kill, and it turned into such a lovely experience. I was seated in a cozy raised corner table, which made it the perfect spot to settle in with a book. The bartender, Aaron, was wonderful—attentive without being overbearing. He took the time to walk me through the menu and drink options and never made me feel rushed, which I really appreciated. I was especially impressed that they offer a gluten-free baguette. That opened up menu options I’d usually have to skip, which felt like a thoughtful touch. I ordered the escargot, French onion soup, and enjoyed a couple of French 75s—everything was absolutely delicious. The pistachio crème brûlée was truly heavenly. I ended up spending a few hours there just reading and relaxing, and it was exactly the kind of atmosphere I was hoping for. Well done, Bistro 112—I’ll definitely be back.”
“Our Valentine’s Day dinner at Bistro 112 was nothing short of incredible. My husband and I did the 5-course menu, and every single course was absolutely phenomenal—beautifully presented, perfectly paced, and full of flavor. It felt like a true dining experience, not just a meal. You could tell how much care and thought went into each dish. This wasn’t our first time there—we’ve also come with family when they were visiting—and it’s been consistently amazing every time. The food never misses, and the service is just as impressive. The staff is always so friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being overbearing, which makes the whole evening feel relaxed and special. Bistro 112 is one of those places that makes Shepherdstown shine. Whether it’s a special occasion or just a night out, you can count on an exceptional experience. If you haven’t been yet, go—you’re missing out. We’ll absolutely be back!”
“We first stumbled into Bistro 112 back in December 2024, and it instantly became one of those little gems you can’t wait to revisit. On our recent trip, we went back specifically for the famous Arugula Martini they had recommended on our first visit — and once again, it did not disappoint! We had a later reservation this time since the bistro was booked for a private event until 7:30. When we arrived at 7:45, the staff welcomed us warmly. Everything was clean, organized, and seamlessly reset for dinner service. Our waiter struck the perfect balance of being attentive without hovering — checking in just enough, offering thoughtful recommendations, and making sure we were well cared for all evening. The food was, once again, absolutely delicious. I ordered the lamb, my boyfriend chose the filet, and both dishes were fantastic with generous portions. For dessert, we shared the flourless chocolate cake and a macaron — honestly, it was more sweets than we needed, but every bite was beautiful and worth it. The ambiance is exactly what you want from a French bistro: relaxed, inviting, and subtly sophisticated. Bistro 112 continues to be one of our favorite finds — and we can’t wait to return again.”
“How can a restaurant this good be in such a small town? I stopped here for lunch while riding the C&O canal path. The hostess was fine with me sitting in the main dining area, but I felt more comfortable on their patio, which was lovely. It has lots of hanging plants but was still sunny. I had their Thai salmon which had perfectly crispy skin and wonderful flavor. And I was so happy I opted to get dessert.”
“Wonderful little spot in heart of downtown. Friendly and attentive staff from the moment you enter. Excellent flavor profiles and seasoning of all dishes. One of the best eggs Benedict I’ve had. Only minor comment might be the portion size of the smoked salmon was rather small for a brunch menu item. Other than that, zero issues. Highly recommended for a day trip anyway from DC. If weather suits, go for patio seating!”
