Chef/Owner Mike Willenbring and his wife Nicole, are living out their dream of owning a restaurant in the St. Croix Valley, where they both grew up and are now raising their own family. Manger Restaurant and Wine Bar (Est. 2018) is a French Bistro/Brasserie style restaurant located in Bayport, Minnesota, in the beautiful St. Croix Valley. The French word "Manger," pronounced (Mahn-jay) means "to eat." In French kitchens, the "Garde Manger" station is where the oysters, seafood platters, salads, and cold apps are prepared. We feature our Garde Manger Station prominently right when you walk in the front door! Mike and his staff change the menu seasonally, using fresh and local ingredients, French technique and inspiration, and feature an a la Carte Menu, or a 5 course "Chef's Counter" option, if booked 48 hrs in advance, along with regularly occurring wine and collaboration dinners. The restaurant also features an Oyster Bar, an open kitchen, locally distilled craft cocktail menu, and beautiful patio. The wine list (40% French) of almost 200 wines, is carefully curated with our favorite wineries, focusing on the wineries we have visited, the wine makers we have met, and wines that have a great story that we just think you will love.

“Last night’s cioppino was far and away the best I’ve had in the 50 years since my first bowl in New Haven CT. not just good. excellence! Ingenuous. Sumptuous broth!!! If you’d prefer the steak frîtes, another amazing choice. Or the burger. Just the right atmosphere in this fine spot. DON’T ORDER THESPECIAL CHEESECAKE. You’ll never be happy with other desserts again. It’s that good.”
“My friend took me to Manger last Friday night 12/5. I had flown in from NYC and excited to try out a nice restaurant in MN. By far this had to of been the best restaurant and wine experience I have had in my 23 years of living in the states. The atmosphere was so warm and cozy. Our waitress was so kind and knew what to recommend. Our wine was carefully selected by Chef Mike which was pared perfectly with our food. I have been to restaurants all over the world and nothing compared to the quality of food at Manger. My friend encouraged me to order the oysters which I never usually like, but these ones at Manger were so delicious and flavorful. In fact, they were so good we ordered them twice over. I will definitely be back again on my next visit out there.”
“Mike and his staff catered my 50th birthday dinner this past weekend! The food was outstanding!! Mike and the crew went above and beyond to take care of all of us! Ayer just one conversation and one meeting before the event, they came in and pulled off this event dinner for 30 flawlessly! Then they continue to host the rest of the evening with 30 more guests with enthusiasm and attentiveness. Hiring Manger for this event was the BEST decision I have ever made for an event!! “Exceptional food with a beautiful warm atmosphere. Our server Jess made everything perfect for our mid week date night. The ambience of the room coupled with the bold fresh flavors make this Place our new hidden gym for us. We had the oyster, Rockefeller, braised, short rib, lobster, Thermidor, and Caesar salad.. The Manger is hands-down one of the best high-end restaurants we’ve been to in the Valley. Can’t wait to come back!”
