“My husband and I visited for our first time today and we had the best experience! We did a tasting with Niki and were so impressed by her knowledge, service and genuine passion for wine. We will be back and will be recommending Black Ankle to everyone we know! 10/10”
“Peaceful, quiet yet beautiful retreat. My first vineyard experience. We carried our eats along but purchased some oysters which were absolutely delicious! The scenery is so lovely and the wines... I enjoyed thoroughly.”
“Absolutely beautiful Vinyard with great wine selection and very nice staff. The atmosphere takes you into a almost Mediterranean experience. They are various outdoor and indoor seating areas which each offer a different experience. They have a food truck on location with delicious food options for both vegetarians and meat eaters. They also have cheeses and other things on the inside along with a water station. They made us feel very welcome and also were very excited to meet our dog. We met Emma who was incredibly friendly and told us about the history of the vineyard and was a treat to talk to. We got the red flight and settled for a bottle of passegiatta. We also learned that there are multiple events throughout the year which we are excited to check out.”
“We absolutely love visiting this vineyard! Very cozy venue with outstanding wine. The staff is phenomenal as well! We always feel welcomed and appreciated.”
“This vinyard was recommended to me by winery in Leesburg VA. We were discussing Maryland wine and I was told that this winery was exceptional and an example a far Maryland wine has progressed. Upon arrival, the staff asked if this was my first time visiting the winery. Shortly after, a manager named Megan came over the greet us and brought us a complimentary glass of champagne. I went to the outside tasting location where Bryan gave a chemistry class by going over some of the processes associated with wine making and drinking. The other guest were cool and my family had a great time. It seemed as if there was a deliberate effort to make sure we had a great time. What really made me feel good was the way my family was treated. English is not their first language. The other kids played with them and made them feel welcome. Now let's get to the wine. Most of the wines I tasted were exceptional and easily the best I've ever tasted from a Maryland vinyard. When people talk about how good Maryland wine has gotten. They're talking about vinyards like Black Ankle that are putting Maryland on the map. It was a great experience and my family loved it. The property is is very nice and scenic. There are multiple seating areas depending on what kind of vibe you want. There were also and I counted, 17 EV charging stations..17. The was food available for purchase. When we went, there were a lot people but it didn't feel crowded. If you like great wine, you have go to Black Ankle. It's definitely worth the drive. I was told there are plans to open a sister winery around Clarksburg in the future. I can't wait!!!!!! Cheers”
