Puma Yu's is a Southeast Asian restaurant in the Athens neighborhood of Athens.
“Our family has been able to dine here twice since they opened in 2022. Both times were phenomenal. The food is fresh and delicious and The staff is so friendly and welcoming. We don’t get out much these days because bringing small children places is a bit intimidating but Puma Yu’s welcomed them and even accommodated my picky eater. We ordered all courses while dining and truly enjoyed each of them. Our last time dining there we enjoyed multiple amazing cocktails, the Egg Rolls, Dumplings, the whole Branzino fish while my daughter enjoyed some fried chicken bites the chef so kindly made for her, we also enjoyed a recommended dessert from the menu. All EXCELLENT! Puma Yu’s is a family and staff oriented restaurant, they make sure that you feel welcome like family while also ensuring their staff is properly compensated for the amazing service they provide. Coming from a long history in the service industry I hold the upmost respect for how they value and care for their staff with an auto gratuity of 20% Our next family night out we get the opportunity to have we will definitely be going back to Puma Yu’s to enjoy the beautiful atmosphere they’ve created and some of our very favorite Athens eats!”
“My family and I love this place. My little girl (3 y/o) is VERY particular with what she will eat. No problem, one of the cooks kindly made her some chicken nuggets and they were delicious! My wife and I ordered the whole fish and it was also delicious! So much so, that my baby girl even was eating it! Mind you, this girl's typical diet consists of yogurt and berries. For an appetizer, we got the eggrolls and the dumplings, very yummy. I could've drank the sauce the dumplings came with. Maybe I did. We also had some cocktails (not the kids) and honestly I dont even recall the name because they came recommended by our server Ally. They were bold, tasty, and the presentation was like a Dali painting. The kids were a little jealous so Ally hooked them up with some fancy waters with garnishes. Its not just food and drinks, its atmosphere, its fresh and local ingredients, its service that recognizes you and meets you where youre at whether youre a picky kid or a grown man who doesn't know what he wants to drink because he doesn't get out much. If you want a dining experience, then check out Puma Yus. We will be back soon.”
“This my go to spot whenever I am in Athens at night. Always has the freshest fish! Flavors are always explosive! My Fiancé and I went for the Sam Gribbon benefit dinner and was not disappointed! Brisket was fall apart tender and the chicken was cooked perfectly. Can't wait to go back for an another amazing Chef Pete experience!”
“Puma Yu's is a great example of how lackluster alot of the Athen's food scene has become. Nearly $200 for two people, and we left hungry. The service was painfully slow from beginning to end. The food took forever to come out, and after our check was dropped off, we sat for nearly 30 minutes just waiting for someone to take our card. It felt like we were completely forgotten about. We started off our meal with the pork dumplings and espresso martinis, then had the pork belly clay pot noodles and the lamb shank hung lay curry, followed by the apple cake and dark chocolate tartlet for dessert. Nothing was outright terrible - but at this price point, "fine" just isn't good enough. The food portions were small, the flavors weren't bold and exciting and overall nothing felt special. Our cocktails and desserts were the highlight of our experience. The desserts were familar but different enough to have a unique experience. However, when you charge premium prices, you're asking to be judged by premium standards and nothing here felt premium, just overpriced and forgettable. Overall I'm just frustrated, I want to like Puma Yu's. The atmosphere is very nice, the food is presented wonderfully, but isnt a homerun flavorwise. The biggest thing is I just can't justify spending nearly $200 and leaving hungry.”
“Dear Puma Yu’s owner. I hope this warm weather is enjoyable for you as well. (I have an organic and uncooked chicken that is find to consume at your gourmet high end restaurant) I was loving my valentine weekends until I was eating fried chicken that is NOT fried. Your server that was a white oldest lady server gaslighted me by saying “the chicken I organic and local from near by Athens so it’s okay. But I can get u another if u want” without any apology and not acknowledging the issue. So we had to talk to other (male) server with ring bleached and he looked at it as I was explaining, noticed, and immediately took the plate to the kitchen. He was well mannered and dealt with the issue way more professionally. And the fact that your business is “high end quality” and regardless of service taking a customer’s right and a power of choice on tip for the unprofessional performance/ service, nausea, and untimely delivery of professionalism is absolutely unacceptable.”
