Pretty Boy is a Vietnamese restaurant in the Athens neighborhood of Athens.
“Love the atmosphere, personality, and attentiveness at Pretty Boy. Definitely make a reservation! I’ve only been twice, but I plan to keep coming back until I find my favorite dish! So far the top runners for ME are the street corn (especially with the happy hour special—only $10) and the mushroom pizza! I’ve tried the short rib, chicken salad, chicken skins, cold peanut noodles, etc.. Again, my top contenders are the street corn and the mushroom pizza! I wasn’t a fan of the new dessert: Watermelon Mezcal Sorbet. If you like Tajun and a custard flavor, then you’ll love it! The dessert coffee drink was to die for!!”
“I heard about this place from a friend and was SOOOO glad I went while in town. We ordered the fried chicken skins, the imperial rolls, the coconut short ribs, and the hamachi crudo. I was wowed by each dish. Each bite was packed full of flavor and I felt like I was getting a little bit of something new each bite. I don’t go to Athens often but will definitely be paying a visit here when I come back.”
“5 stars is not enough! Interesting, creative Vietnamese food. The ambiance is wonderful; the service flawless. We had the vegan street corn, which is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Savory, spicy, sweet, spectacular. The stir fried vegetables were also amazing with vegan chili crisp, and fried garlic! Then, the viet crispy crepe - savory, flavorful, light, delicious! We bought the kitchen staff a drink; it was so good. Highly recommended!”
“I was immensely surprised by the value of this restaurant. It's got an upscale feel while being very...approachable? All of the plates are shareable and there is a lot of eating with your hands, they DO provide wet wipes. We had the rice paper pizza, pork skewer, chicken salad and street corn and could have easily fed 3-4 people. We also both had drinks and a shared a dessert and it was only $66, granted we DID do the happy hour but it's still a WILD value. I think this could be a fantastic place to take a group, the street corn was some of the best I've had and the FRESHNESS of the chicken salad was amazing.”
“Made a reservation to visit after I’ve heard good things about this restaurant. They are strict with your table time and will ask you to leave after about an hour. Unfortunately I was left disappointed with the food. We got there in time for their happy hour and ordered the fried chicken skins and the Viet corn as appetizers. Everyone raves about the fried chicken skins but to me they lacked flavor and seasoning. The sauce on them did a lot of the heavy lifting and they honestly just tasted like flavorless pork rinds, not what I expected. The corn was good and if anything I’d purchase that again although I don’t think what amounts to one ear of corn is worth $12. For my entree I ordered the $18 drunken noodles and paid 7 extra dollars to have pork belly added on as a protein. The noodles were dry and didn’t have strong flavors present. The pork belly was dry and hard and definitely not worth an additional $7 for the portion received. I ate a few bites of my food and took over half home as leftovers which was probably a mistake. This food did not reheat well as leftovers. The already dry noodles with no sauce became even more dry, it was like I heated up a pack of $1 ramen and ate it without broth or the seasoning packet. With the leftovers it was evident how disproportionate the amount of noodles were to the protein. I had a mountain of noodles left and had to pick through to find my pork belly crumbs. Needless to say I threw my leftovers in the trash (I absolutely hate to waste food, especially at this price point) and had a better meal at a fast food restaurant for a third of the price. I just expected a little bit more from the food but the aesthetic of the place is nice.”
