Flowers of Vietnam has ascended from its status as a clandestine weekend only destination hidden inside one of Detroit’s few remaining original Coney Islands to become a vanguard leading the way in Detroit’s dining scene. Open for dine-in + carryout + delivery, Thursday - Sunday.
“We celebrated a 40th birthday here this past weekend. Our server, Lisa, was super attentive to our needs and was very accommodating. The dinner was paced out perfectly, and most importantly, the food was soo good. Highly recommend the pho. Thank you to the whole crew!”
“We had an incredible dining experience at Flowers. Everything from the drinks to the papaya salad to the whole fish was truly amazing. Our best meal of 2024 by far! We ordered the King Piccolo and Patio Water for drinks (both great) but the star of the show was the Ca Phe Amer, an amazing version of an espresso martini. The chicken wings were crispy and perfectly glazed with a sweet/spicy/sticky sauce. The papaya salad was, by far, the best we have ever had. The Bo La Lot and Bo Luc Lac were delicious. The prawns were my husband's favorite, tied with the wings. And the vegetables....the mushrooms were transcendent. My favorite dish of year. The cauliflower was truly divine. I could become a vegetarian based on these two dishes alone. We ended with whole fish which was fantastic. An amazing dining and service experience from start to finish. At least a few times a month, my husband asks me if we can fly to Detroit (we live in Florida) to have dinner at Flowers:)”
“We walked in and were greeted by the sweetest hostess. She felt like a beloved grandmother and made us feel so welcomed immediately. First impressions matter and this lady was the best! The decor was eclectic old 1970’s with nods to Detroit. Love the lamps over the booths! The food was INSANE. Some of the best I’ve ever had! Our waiter was extremely helpful, attentive but not overly so. Just right. Loved the bathrooms, the vibe - everything! Cocktails were so creative! The wings were crispy and perfectly fried. I don’t typically like mushrooms but the oyster mushrooms made me a believer! Please check it out. The good reviews don’t do it justice.”
“We've been waiting to try this place so we hopped on over when we could. First, walking up to the entrance it was so unassuming, once we stepped inside it was lovely. It was a Friday night so maybe this is why the music was turned up a bit. I love that they have the separation from the bar seating and the open view of the kitchen. The food was really good! The chicken wings lived up the hype and we tried the cauliflower which was lovely with that coconut sauce. The flavors here are pretty good but could be a bit more punchy, just my own opinion. We had the pork chop for our main entree. The porkchop was cooked to perfection. But the overall plate left a bit to be desired. In sum, I will return to try the fish and shaky beef and a few other items in the future, the service, and atmosphere was great and rhe food was good.”
“I absolutely loved our server, but the food left a lot to be desired. It was very underwhelming considering the prices. People rave about the chicken wings, but they were overcooked and had the texture of candied grapes, which was not appealing. We also had their corn and ribs, which were our favorites, but still just ok. The papaya salad was ok, nothing to write home about. I didn’t mind the 20% gratuity being added because the waitstaff was very attentive, but the additional 3% charge for paying with a credit card read as tacky, especially since the menu items are not cheap. It felt like the restaurant was trying to offload the cost of paying their credit card merchant to their customer If they don’t want to incur the cost of accepting credit cards, they should consider transitioning to a cash only model.”
