“We stayed at the Intercontinental and had Christmas eve dinner at Matria. The restaurant was very well designed with a sense of luxury and elegance. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The food was cooked perfectly, and the kids loved the atmosphere. The only thing I wish they could do with the entrees is maybe provide a choice of sides. Since it was Christmas eve dinner, they had a special menu, but no sides on the menu to order from. I will go back again on a normal day and try some of the other dishes. I added a picture of the in room dining as well.”

“Wonderful experience without even having to step outside. This was one of the few times we ordered multiple courses, and both the food and service were exceptional. We arrived in a bit of a rush after having trouble reserving a table online, but the staff seated us immediately. Our server, Amy, was friendly and very polite, especially while helping my wife find a cocktail she enjoyed. We started with the roasted tomato focaccia, which I highly recommend—it had the perfect balance of crispiness and warm, soft bread. For our mains, I ordered the Piedmont ribeye, cooked perfectly medium rare, while my wife chose the gnocchi alla Bava, which was hearty and very filling. We even discovered that the gnocchi sauce paired wonderfully with my ribeye. For dessert, we ordered separate items but shared both the tiramisu and panna cotta, and they were equally delightful. The atmosphere was relaxed yet refined. While there wasn’t a strict dress code, it’s not the kind of place you’d want to walk into wearing just a T-shirt and shorts—smart casual attire felt appropriate. This is a great option when staying at the hotel and well worth choosing over some of the other nearby restaurant options on the same block. Overall, the dining experience was excellent—the restaurant was easy to access, the food was worth the price, and the staff were friendly and attentive at every stage, from greeting us to clearing our plates. I would highly recommend dining in and experiencing it in person.”

“My wife and I both love Matria! It's so much more than just a hotel restaurant. It's a complete dining experience with fine wine great cocktails and amazing culinary treats. We had a tar tar that was incredible. The ribeye was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Short rib was seasoned to perfection. We also tried the gnocchi and the truffle polenta and they are both magnificent. The service here was second to none and we were treated like we owned the place. Always one of our favorite places to eat in Boston.”

“We enjoyed breakfast at the buffet during our stay at the InterContinental Hotel, where Matria is located. The décor was beautiful and tastefully decorated for the holidays. The buffet was well organized and beautifully presented, offering a wide variety of options. Upon arrival, we were seated and greeted by a friendly server who took our drink orders and explained that we could also order freshly prepared items such as avocado toast, fried or poached eggs, and an açai bowl. There were plenty of buffet choices available for our children as well. We ordered oat milk lattes from the kitchen and enjoyed a lovely, relaxing meal overall.”

“I visited Matria as part of Boston’s Dine Out program with my girlfriend. We were very surprised how nice the restaurant looked like! We were also seated right next to the windows so we could watch the sunset. We sat at an organized, clean table with spotless utensils and glasses. We both ordered a Caesar Salad as appetizers which were great but they had too much parmesan in them. For mains, we got the Braised Short-Rib which were very tender and properly seasoned. For desserts, I ordered a Tiramisu cup which was light, creamy, and visually looked great as well! We also ordered a Dark Chocolate Mousse cup which tasted amazing as well. Where the experience turned unpleasant was when I was charged more tip than I had put down on the receipt. I went into a hurdle of contacting the managers over the phone and in person, showing the customer copy of the receipt to both and I always got the response “we will immediately look into this and refund you”. I am not going to mention any names but I am very sad that such a restaurant can afford doing something like this. Basic human principles seem to be non-existent here. I am most definitely not returning to this restaurant because of this experience; but if you end up eating at Matria, make sure you have enough money on your cards because you might end up in a situation like me and waste precious time to get back your money as a “valued customer”.”
