Leon’s Oyster Shop is a Southern restaurant in the Downtown neighborhood of Charleston.
“Perfect atmosphere for a kick back fun evening. The food is great! Loved the fried chicken, scalloped potatoes were delicious and unique, black eyed beans very tasty. Husband loved the selection and presentation of oysters and he loved the bourbon selection!”
“Whoever designed the coleslaw is a mad genius. I don’t know how it’s economically viable to make such a good side that is so often overlooked or ordered without intention of eating, but I finished every last bit of mine. And I hate coleslaw. Obviously I have just been led astray my whole life on what coleslaw should be. Genuinely, if you think this is another fried food and bar deal, Leon’s is not playing around. Sauces are amazing and perfectly spicy, breading is perfect and crisp, brioche sandwich bread was phenomenal, butter lettuce for the wrap was fresh as could be. They are not just trying to serve you drunken food and getting you out the door. Someone back in that kitchen is thinking with their heart and soul and steering the ship right. Also I would go back here just to drink another Grasshopper, no matter the wait time. Seriously, try it. Open up a window and serve these out of it. I swear, I’ll line up. Also shout out to our server who was super attentive and nice. All the staff were. The atmosphere was great, we were seated so fast, the bachelorette party going on in front of us was so cute. It was a blast, great food and great atmosphere. 10/10 no notes.”
“10/10 whole experiences Well ran! Excellent food. I recommend chargrilled oysters . Absolute must. Grilled seafood was good. Their scallop potatoes were good (no scallops in them, it’s a cooking style) Probably pass on hush puppies next time. I want to try the friend chicken next time. Tip: this place gets busy. But very well ran. Great service. I went around 2 pm on a Friday. You go to the hostess stand to be put on wait list. Wait list for bar sitting too. For mgmt- where can people park at?”
“Hello Southern charm! Our first stop in Charleston! And this place was great! Lots of drink options friendly Staff a cozy place to have some amazing home-cooked food. We had the scallop potatoes, brussels sprouts coleslaw, fried chicken and fried oyster roll. I can't say enough good things about all of it! We had a 15 min wait but sipping a pickle beer makes time go by quickly! It was a fun atmosphere! Great people! You will not be disappointed!”
“I typically do not like oysters but I tried the crispy fried oyster sandwich and I was so glad that I did. It was phenomenal. The smoked fish dip was great as well. Someone at my table got the fried chicken and that was delicious. It was perfectly cooked and still stayed moist and tender. It had a bit of a spice to it too. I also loved that the sides were very refreshing and veggie forward while pairing it with the fried dishes.”
