“Review for the bar only, although the food looked amazing. Cool bar space, very classy. Bar staff were great to talk to, very fun. Cocktails were top notch!”
“We celebrated my birthday at The Alley Light and it was absolutely amazing, just like our first visit. We were so excited to come back, and honestly, everything was perfect from start to finish. We ordered a bunch of different dishes and shared everything, which ended up being the best way to experience the menu. Every plate was thoughtful, flavorful, and beautifully done. You can really tell how much care goes into both the food and the overall experience. They also brought me a complimentary sparkling wine to celebrate my birthday, which was such a thoughtful touch and made the evening feel even more special. The atmosphere, service, food, drinks… all of it was incredible. One of those dinners where you leave already talking about when you’re coming back. Highly recommend.”
“We absolutely loved the Alley Light! Definitely get the beet risotto and the beef tartar!! The sous vide steaks were sooooo delicious, and I normally don't really like steak. I got a "surprise me" mocktail and it was perfect. Super cool 1920's speakeasy feel. A little hard to find, but it's down the road and to your right, and the door is in an alley under a light. We are planning to come back here soon!”
“If you are in Cville, include this on your list of eating places. According to Chris, the owner and host, he and his wife converted a 2 bedroom appt into a speakeasy that serves special cocktails and small dishes with a french/european flare. Think of it like French tapas. His wife is the Chef. She worked a long time ago in NYC area in restaurants where she learned her craft. Excellent food. Creative and tasty. They have a set menu but a large daily variety of small plates. You can order entree size plates as well if you prefer. See photos for specials when we went. The place gets pretty packed between the good food and the drinks. Great table service and ambiance. If you order the drinks and small plates at the same time, the food may arrive before your drink since they are so busy so get your drinks first then order food. You can request special ingredients for a surprise special drink that the bartender will then craft for you. Ask about The Wanda. Pricrs are reasonable. Check out the collection of old menus from old restaurants as you come in. Reservations are a must. First time visit, leave time to find the entrance as it is hard to find the alley they are on. I will be returning if i come back to the city. Tease Chris about how he has the easy job while the Mrs slaves in the back!!!”
“Excellent location for amazing food and cocktails. The staff are quick and polite, the menu is diverse and delicious. If you are in the area and looking to be a bit adventurous you owe it to yourself to stop in.”
