“The manager Crystal is by far one of the most intuitive hospitality professionals I have ever encountered. I was here for the NBA playoffs (Go Spurs) and she made sure to personally check on us multiple times throughout each game. The whole staff is awesome, the food and vibes are great! Shoutout Jenna! Just moved to CHI, even though this bar is a commute from my apartment, I have found my go to sports bar!”
“Broken Barrel is awesome! The wings are some of the best I've had, the atmosphere is great for watching games, and they're incredibly dog-friendly. Our group has come in to watch Spurs games, and the staff has always been welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. Crystal is especially fantastic and always makes us feel taken care of. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun neighborhood spot to watch a game, hang out with friends, or bring your dog along.”
“Such an awesome experience when I went there. I was on the hunt for wings after I just landed in Chicago and was trying to find some wing specials and this place popped up along with a couple other ones, but we decided on this one and boy we were not disappointed. First of all the wings are smoked first, They were tender and crispy and very flavorful and the staff was awesome. I believe our waitress was named Maddie and she provided fantastic service. Everything was very community-feeling and just seamless with the service and we even got hooked up with some free wings from the cook and it was amazing. So obviously we left phat tips because the experience has been amazing and something that is honestly kind of rare these days. So thanks to Broken Barrel Bar for tasty wings, tasty drinks and fantastic service.”
“Love this place. Me and my partner always come here for the wings and the southwestern salad. All the servers here are super friendly and nice. Great bar food.”
“Update: I appreciate Broken Barrel taking the time to respond to my review. Their response acknowledged the communication issues that led to our negative experience, and I appreciate that they recognized how a simple explanation and direction from staff could have changed the situation entirely. While our experience that evening was disappointing, I value businesses that listen to customer feedback and respond thoughtfully. Original review: We attended a private party at Broken Barrel tonight. The event was well attended, and our host invested significantly in the venue, food, and open bar. After the party ended, we planned to stay and continue the evening as paying customers. While we were finishing a conversation at a high-top table, an employee approached, removed our drinks, and brought another customer to the table without any explanation or communication. We were not actually asked to leave the table. When I asked whether we were being asked to move, I received no response. The customer who was brought to the table also appeared surprised, uncomfortable, and apologetic about the situation. With no direction from staff about where we should go, we stepped aside and continued our conversation in the open area near the table. I even apologized to the woman who had been brought to the table because I felt bad that she was put in an awkward position due to how the situation was handled. Shortly afterward, a waitress told us to “get out of the way” because service was taking place in the area. A man who appeared to be a manager then asked us to move from the patio into the bar because we were obstructing the waitstaff. We fully understand the need to manage tables, accommodate customers, and keep service areas clear. Our concern was not the request itself, but the lack of communication and the manner in which it was handled. A polite explanation that the table was needed, where we could relocate, or that the patio was being reset would have been appreciated. Unfortunately, what began as a wonderful birthday celebration ended with several guests feeling unwelcome and embarrassed. We were disappointed by the customer service experience, particularly after a private event where guests intended to remain and continue supporting the business. Basic courtesy and clear communication would have made a significant difference.”
