Pat's Italian - Cumberland is an Italian restaurant in the Cumberland neighborhood of Cumberland.
“Great spot in Cumberland! The restaurant is smaller than I thought it would be and it’s a little loud in there. However, the interior itself is beautiful and I enjoyed our seating arrangements. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you choose to go. We started with complimentary bread and butter. Not my favorite complimentary bread- I found it dry and not cut very well. However, free is free! My iced tea with mango was very good though. I definitely recommend some of their flavor shots and as a helpful hint- their refills are not free. I ordered the chicken Alfredo. The wait time was long (around 45 minutes) but not unpleasant. Our waitress was apologetic but I didn’t find the wait to be incredibly egregious. When the food did come out I have to say it was some of the best Alfredo I’ve ever had. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and crispy, pasta was cooked well, and the Alfredo was creamy and perfectly thick. Almost like an Alfredo Mac and cheese. They’re not giving the food away and I do think some portion sizes could be more generous for the price point. However, my dish was exceptional and our waitress was very kind so I have no issue with giving Pat’s a 5 star ranking.”
“Had a quiet, relaxing dinner here and really enjoyed it. I ordered the Chicken Sorrento and it was very good—well prepared and flavorful. The service was excellent and attentive without being rushed. Overall, a great spot for a calm evening meal. Would definitely return.”
“Ordered the Fig & Prosciutto Flatbread expecting something close to the menu description (fig jam base, gorgonzola, mozzarella, caramelized onions, prosciutto, balsamic drizzle, fresh basil), but what I received was pretty disappointing. The flatbread was overloaded with mozzarella, with very little prosciutto and only small, uneven bits of gorgonzola. The biggest issue was that there didn’t seem to be any real fig jam base—just a drizzle on top—so it completely missed that sweet/savory balance the dish is supposed to have. The onions also didn’t taste caramelized, and overall it felt thrown together rather than intentional. For $18, I expected something that actually resembled the menu description. This wasn’t just a presentation issue—it was missing key components. Hoping this was just an off night, but I’d recommend the restaurant either update the menu description or make sure the dish is prepared as advertised.”
“My wife and I had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately we left very disappointed. To start with the positives, the service was very good and the drink pours were generous. Absolutely no complaints there. The food, however, was AWFUL. The portions were on the larger side, however, the seasoning and temperature were way off and/or non existent. I really hate to say this, but my wife and I both came away feeling like the food was either frozen or pre-prepared. The appetizers of Arancini and Stuffed Mushrooms were average at best. The Arancini seemed like they were frozen and I don’t think the mushrooms were made in house, had the taste and look of store bought. The entrees were far worse. I ordered the Chicken Sorrento, which was flavorless and overloaded with ricotta cheese, making the entire dish mushy. The chicken and eggplant also seemed to have been prepared separately beforehand, both were heavily deep-fried, then layered with ricotta and reheated in the oven. The final result was bland and unfortunately served cold. The dish also had very little sauce. But to be honest, even if it was properly heated, it still wouldn’t have been good. I honestly can’t tell if the chicken and eggplant was frozen food to begin with or was prepared so far in advance that it was no longer fresh and was overly cold internally. My wife ordered the Inferno Chicken Pasta, and the only flavor that came through was banana pepper juice. Beyond that, the dish was completely lacking seasoning or depth of flavor. Both of us also felt the fresh pasta was overcooked and also on the cooler side. Overall, we would not return. Neither of us liked our meals. I’ll admit we could have said something to the waitress or manager but we believed it didn’t really matter, the food just wasn't good and nothing could be done to fix it. The toughest aspect to accept was it wasn’t very reasonable, it was extremely expensive for very poor quality food and execution. The bill was over $200 ( I left a good tip) for what was reheated, bland, below room temperature food and I’m sorry, but that is unacceptable.. For this price point, we would much rather go to Trattoria Romana, where the food is consistently far better.”
“We’ve enjoyed very good dinners at the Johnston location so we thought we’d give the new restaurant in Cumberland a try. Big mistake. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio and it was brought to the table already opened in a wine chiller. As the waitress did not pour, I poured a taste for the three of us. When we all thought it tasted very off/turned, I looked at the label and saw that it was not the wine we ordered. I told the waitress that we were served the wrong wine and it tasted bad, she said that was the only Pinot Grigio they had and it was their house wine. I asked to see the menus again, pointed out the one we ordered and told her we weren’t going to drink something we didn’t order and tasted bad. I ordered a glass of another Pinot Grigio from the menu. The back and forth between the waitress/bartender/and host took forever and I didn’t get my glass of wine until their lengthy consultation was over. Service after that was nonexistent. There were only 3 tables occupied in the restaurant and the wait staff spent more time chatting within earshot in the back than waiting on tables. When the waitress never returned to clear the table and take our dessert order, I went to the back and interrupted their conversation to ask for our check. The check came with a charge for 60% of the cost of the bottle I returned. Since it seemed like the bartender might be in charge and our waitress was no where in sight again, I went to the bar and asked to speak with the manager and was told she wasn’t there. The bartender took the bill to the back for another consultation with the waitstaff and the host and the host returned and said we were being charged for what we drank from the bottle. I reminded her that we only had sips and would not pay for something we didn’t order. She said she’d have to call the manager. Another unnecessarily long wait. The host returned with a corrected bill and told us not to come back. Just as shocking, I saw the bartender cap and return that bottle of their house Pinot Grigio that wasn’t even from Italy to the fridge! If this is how Pat’s Italian restaurant employees treated us: a 65 year old woman, my 90 year old mother, and a 63 year old woman in a wheelchair, they don’t deserve your business either. RI has many excellent Italian restaurants that treat their customers with courtesy, consideration, respect, and good service. We won’t return to any of Pat’s Italian Restaurants.”
