Madre is a Mediterranean restaurant in the Smoky Hollow neighborhood of Raleigh.
“Everything is phenomenal. Their biscuits are not your typical southern fare and a great starter. But buckle up for the Cambrian Chicken & Churro— a chicken + waffle does not compare! The Spanish-style French toast w fruit is a definite must try. We loved the attention to using local ingredients. The Sunday morning brunch started out with light traffic and the service was superb. The atmosphere alone is worth a visit— from the decor to the bathroom doors IFKYK”
“The atmosphere was so sophisticated! Our server was the absolute best and made the most incredible recommendations. The Madre Margarita, ceviche, and venison tartare were the highlights! Nella the owner was so sweet and took a Polaroid for our bachelorette party for us to keep. The moon room is their sister company and is a swanky jazz bar right across the street. We had an amazing night. Thank you Madre!!”
“Madre was such a beautiful experience from the moment we walked in. The ambience is stunning and really sets the tone for a great night out. I wasn’t sure what to expect with Mediterranean cuisine, but I ended up really enjoying it. The sauce served with the chicken was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. I also loved the shareable plates, they made the meal feel more interactive and added to the overall experience. The restaurant has a great vibe that feels both stylish and welcoming. Overall, a really enjoyable dining experience that I would recommend trying.”
“Very cute interior with unique decorations. Lovely for a date night and small groups! Loved the shared plates. We got the halloumi, ceviche, octopus, and patatas bravas. It was great but nothing too special. The dishes seemed to lack flavor but that’s just my taste buds. The paella was definitely underwhelming regardless of the wait time. The service was superb and very easy to talk to.”
“Some friends and I decided to try Madres this past Friday for dinner. Upon entry the staff and ambiance were A1. The restaurant was decorated tastfully for Valentine's Day but the music was too loud. The mood lighting was a nice touch but trying to read the menu was difficult. We had reservations so we were sat pretty quickly. Our waiter Chris was prompt, attentive and provided recommendations from the menu. The drinks and tapas were delicious and came out quickly, then our entrees came. We all wanted to try the branzino paella because based on the description and having tried it at a few different restaurants how could we pass it up? The presentation was off putting and the taste and execution were a miss for me. We opt to try the short ribs and croquettes instead and they were definitely a better choice. The goat cheese cheese with fig and honey was rich and decadent. I would revisit but Madres probably wouldn't be my first choice for the food but moreso the atmosphere.”
