Copper Beech Inn

“One of the most incredible inns we’ve ever stayed in. Historical. Comfortable. Modern enough for the best of things while still having such charm from the old days. And the inn keepers, staff and breakfast are all phenomenal and worth every penny. Would stay again in a heartbeat.”

“Had a wonderful dinner there after a matinee holiday show at the Ivoryton Playhouse. What a perfect way to continue our outing. The inn was decorated so tastefully and beautifully. Our server, Andrew, was excellent, very personable and good knowledge of the menu despite his being new. Our group ordered the Brussels sprouts, escargot, arugula salad, cod en papillote, steak and a chicken dish that was amazing. Everything was delicious though the cod was a small portion compared to the others significantly larger portioned meals. The 2 in our group who ordered the cod ended up finishing off the chicken and steak for the others. For dessert we had an apple turnover and the profiteroles. The profiteroles were definitely enough to share for 2 people. The turnovers were on the small side, but still tasty. We would definitely recommend the Copper Beech and look forward to returning.”

“Such a dissapointment!! Honestly, choose another high quality Inn in the area to stay! Definitely beautiful still but atmosphere and service has completely degraded since our last stay. We were thoroughly astonished at how terrible it was. Food as well. Soo sad. We stayed here on wedding night, again on our year Anniversary and just past weekend for our 15th Anniversary, for nostalgia. We were so excited and looking forward to our stay and expecting the same caliber of service and dining experience. That couldn't be further from experience. So suite 1, which is beautiful was our home for a few days. However the toilet constantly ran, like all day all night. We told the gentleman at the desk first night of our stay. ( I think there was a language barrier, because he just said, " ok, are you here to breakfast " ) yes we indicated.. ( breakfast was included, however was so bad and dissapointing we did not partake in past the first day and opted to grab breakfast elsewhere for remainderof our stay) Anyway, So the toilet issue was never resolved. We also mentioned it to another gentleman in passing when we came back in from our day out. Speaking of which, We arrived from our day out to a very large, private, life celebration, being hosted there. Parking was oddly, not easy to find, but given party size, was understandable.. Anyway upon arriving and heading in there was overwhelming horrible " fecal" odor..... so many people in lobby, so thought perhaps, large gathering odor? We continued our way upstairs to change for our dinner reservations ( downstairs)... we come back down, party has cleared out, gentleman at desk, taking reservations information and seating. Meanwhile, the fecal smell was still grossly present! Overwhelming, infact. I look down to realize there is a pile and smearing of actual feces, dog feces... Like how do you not see or smell that.. All those people had been standing there, not smiling it??? And the dog owners, continued now! So we were ESCORTED to dining room, same gentleman, never even notice or acknowledged it... all the whike several drifters coming in to be sat in bar area... like how on earth do you not smell it? So pungent/ overwhelmingly, waifed into the dining area. I mentioned this to our serve. She went right over, where managers or whomever were standing around, she mentioned it. They all just stood there, looking at it and doing nothing! She ( server) went and cleaned it up. (Was infact dog feces) So whomever brought thier dog, allowed it to its business in the foyer! Disgusting and completely off putting. Ridiculous, and bewildered staff didn't even notice. Dinner was odd, as we had the entire dining room to ourselves. No specials to be had, due to chef was apparently overwhelmed having to cook for the prior large party. Hubby ordered scallops which were deadly overcooked and fishy tasting. I ordered steak frites, which seemed seasoned, was severely over cooked. Ordered rare,received medium. I had sides, waiting for sever to return. Truffle fries were nicely crisp. Poor server, was running between the bar area guests and us in dining room(barely saw her; 20+ min in-between) did receive steak correction; by that time 3/4hour had past. No longer interested. Hubby ate it. Was just soooo dissapointing all around! Food wasn't just wasnt tasty, other than the fries... not what expecting. Our first encounter here, we discovered chef Tyler A, followed him to Millwrights, the chef after him, at CBI, was excellent as well. Cannot say that now! As far as the stay, Unfortunately we had ask for more towels and toiletries everyday. Dirty/ used champagne glasses were left the room for two days despite made up daily. Probably an oversight,but still... compared to our prior experiences. Honestly for the price of the Inn along supposedly status "class" and quality that drew us here,not acceptable. Definitely seek other charming places to stay. Nostalgic sake, this WAS th place to return for our anniversaries but this will definitely be our last visit/ stay here...”

“Went here for dinner. They had virtually no workers,just the hostess who was also the server( they were the same person). The food was nothing to talk about. You would do better going elsewhere. My wife ordered lamb and it was overcooked and chewy. It took forever for the waitress/hostess to come by to exdplain the bad food. Usually after the food is served, the server comes back to ask if everything was ok, but not here. very poor service. The waitress/hostess was not warm and friendly. Overpriced food Will never go back here again and people would be better off going elsewhere. It looks elegant. It looks nice and that’s the only thing. ran into a couple who ate there also. they had the same opinion on food and service.”
