“Deer Mountain Inn was probably the best meal we've had this year. First of all the atmosphere is exactly what you want for the Catskills - homey lodge feel but updated in a charming and unique way. The service was good - the waiters knew what was in everything and the food came out fast. But the star was really the food. We've been to a lot of restaurants and it is hard to make things unique anymore, but wow this food was unique. Everything was a hit and I wish we could have ordered everything on the menu. The trout was cooked perfectly with a perfectly creamy (non dairy) sauce, crunch, and salt from the roe. The soups were flavorful and unique. And the bread with dips were perfection. So far, this is our favorite restaurant in the Catskills and we will definitely be back!”

“If you're looking for a taste of the good life in Upstate New York, this is it. We've never dined so elegantly before. Firstly, our service was impeccable. Our server was Jessa, who was assisted by Nema (please forgive if I've misspelled). They both guided us through the menu, and it's thanks to them that we were able to order the perfect meal tailored to us. But even then, the food was unlike anything we've eaten before. It is rare that the wife and I spend the entire dining experience talking about how phenomenal the food is. From beginning to end, we were tasting things we'd never tasted before. Throughout the dinner, we were greeted by several other staff, including the host and bartender, who checked to make sure we were comfortable and satisfied. The ideal dining location to celebrate life with an equally celebratory meal. We will be returning, hopefully sooner than later. (Please forgive us, as the desserts we ordered we so delicious that by the time we remembered to get a picture, the empty dishes were all that were left 😂)”

“My visit to Deer Mountain Inn Lodge in Upstate New York was exceptional from start to finish. The setting is incredibly cozy, with a beautiful interior that perfectly complements the surrounding mountain landscape. Sitting by the log fire after dinner created such a warm and relaxing atmosphere that made the whole experience feel special. The food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared using locally sourced ingredients, and you could truly taste the quality and freshness. The wine selection was equally impressive, offering a great mix of international and local wines that paired perfectly with the menu. What really made the experience stand out was the staff. They were attentive, welcoming, and genuinely seemed to care about making sure every guest had a wonderful evening. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable, guiding us through the menu and wine choices with confidence and enthusiasm. A special mention has to go to Jackson, the best bartender, who crafted fantastic drinks and added a fun, personable touch to the evening. It was also my birthday, and the team made it feel extra special by surprising us with complimentary drinks and bringing out a cake with a candle, which was such a thoughtful touch. Overall, the staff couldn’t do enough for us, and the combination of incredible food, a cozy atmosphere, and outstanding service makes Deer Mountain Inn Lodge a place I would happily return to and highly recommend.”

“Wow! This place exceeded all expectations. The food, atmosphere and service are top notch. We had Steven as our waiter and he was beyond superb. His knowledge and love for Deer Mountain Inn truly shinned through his service. The food was absolutely incredible. The homemade focaccia bread is a must! We shared the wagyu special and saved room for the sundae. We were beyond thrilled to have a night spent for my birthday. 10/10 recommend”

“I want to be clear that this review is specifically for the restaurant, as we didn't stay at the hotel. I did a lot of research to find the perfect Valentine’s Day spot, and Deer Mountain Inn was easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. For the quality you get, the price point is amazing—especially compared to what you’d pay for a similar meal in NYC. The restaurant is beautiful. It’s romantic, calm, and has a cozy "ski lodge" vibe that makes it well worth the drive. Our server (I wish I remembered his name!) was incredible—extremely knowledgeable, kind, and really elevated the entire night. The Highlights: Sourdough Focaccia & Stracciatella: Incredible. The combination was unlike anything I’ve had. It’s a very generous portion (could easily be shared by 3 or 4), but it was so good the two of us finished it all. I wish I could've tried all the spreads! Wagyu Beef: This steak was cooked to perfection. It was outstandingly flavorful and so tender it almost melted in my mouth. My only minor wish was for more fingerling potatoes (there were only two), but the steak was so good it made up for it. The Cheeseburger: This is what you call a cheeseburger! One of the best I’ve ever had. As a "fry girl," I can also confirm the fries were perfectly crispy, fresh, and delicious. Squash Soup: A very pleasant surprise. It was delicious and I only wish the portion was bigger and it was served a bit hotter. Off-Menu Ice Cream Sundae: Get this! It had shaved halva on top that had a cotton-candy-like texture. It was very sweet but worked perfectly. The One Miss: Chicory Salad: This wasn't for me. It was quite bitter (which I'm realizing might just be a pattern with restaurant salads lately). I also discovered I'm not a "cheddar in my salad" person, though I did appreciate that they used fresh mandarins instead of the canned version. The portion size was great, even if the flavor profile didn't hit the mark for me. Overall, this was an incredible meal from start to finish. If you are in the area—or even if you have to drive a bit to get here—it is absolutely worth it. I will definitely be back!”
