The Heights Restaurant and H Bar is a Mediterranean restaurant in the Downtown neighborhood of Ithaca.
“First I have to say that I never write reviews—but I am making an exception for the Heights. My husband and I were visiting from Manhattan and had dinner here to celebrate our anniversary. We brought our 1-year-old baby, which always makes me nervous in a nice restaurant—but the staff were nothing but kind and accommodating. The ambience is calm and classic and the food is excellent. In particular we are days later, still talking about the cauliflower appetizer and the dramatic T-bone steak. However, what took the experience over the top for me was our server Patrick. Patrick was warm and natural and made us (and our baby!) feel immediately comfortable. He explained the menu and the restaurant's philosophy with genuine enthusiasm and no pressure. When I ordered my usual prosecco, he brought a sample of that alongside a local semi-dry riesling—which I loved so much I switched. He also had great recommendations for other spots in the area. Any time we're in Ithaca, we'll be back for sure!”
“Made the trip up to Ithaca from Corning to try The Heights. Knew from reading reviews that it was a nice spot, but all of our expectations were blown out of the water! Service was spot on from the moment we walked in the door. The hostess wished me a Happy Birthday and we were ushered to our table right away. We were waited on almost immediately. I loved the bread with olives in it, my wife doesn’t like olives, and they brought out some grilled pita bread that was also delicious. I ordered the Portuguese Octopus for an appetizer. If you’ve had octopus, you know it’s hard to cook perfectly. I could cut this effortlessly with a fork. Tender and delicious. The accompanying sauces were also delicious. I got the garden salad with a homemade basil vinaigrette and my wife got the Caesar Salad. Both were very good. For main courses, I got the 20 oz Hand Cut Prime NY Strip, which came with Papas Bravas, Kafar, Truffle Aioli, and house made steak sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly medium rare, and was huge. I’ve never had Papas Bravas before, but they were SO crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. Absolutely delicious. My wife got the Lamb Belly Saltimbocca A La Romana. It was wrapped in prosciutto and came with Brussels Sprouts, Burrata, Pine Nut and Raisin Gremolata, Sage Aioli, and Anisette Demi-Glacé. Also delicious. The Anisette Demi-Glacé cut through the fattiness of the lamb. Perfect dish. Dessert was lights out. I was having a cheat meal, so I got a birthday sized slice of carrot cake, and a profiterole. The profiterole had French vanilla ice cream inside and was covered in a house made chocolate ganache. The carrot cake had a rum sauce and vanilla ice cream on the side. The chocolate ganache was absolutely divine. The carrot cake cream cheese frosting was perfect. Topped with chocolate popcorn. My wife got a Crème Brulle with Chantilly Cream and Berries. Also delicious. Perfect end to a perfect meal. Our server Austin and the manager Dominick were both super friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Dominick came to the table and we exchanged favorite restaurants. I’m already looking for the next thing I can celebrate, just so we can plan another trip to The Heights!”
“I wish I could leave a 6 star review for this place! 10/10. The food was immaculate, the service was absolutely unreal and the vibe was perfect! From the owner to my server Kirk, everyone treated us like celebrities literally. The food was out of the world and I thought the prices were very fair for the quality of the food. I recommend this place with my eyes closed and I’ll be coming back!! I’ll attach a couple photos but keep in mind my husband and I shared everything and they served us the Duck shared in two different plates so we didn’t have to make a mess doing sharing! I took videos a of the food so it won’t let me share them”
“The Heights is hands down one of the best dining experiences in Ithaca. The food was exceptional—every bite was perfectly executed. I ordered the seabass special, and it was outstanding: delicate, flavorful, and beautifully presented. My daughter had the mahimahi, also a special of the day, and it was just as impressive. Both dishes were fresh and expertly prepared. The service was professional and attentive without being overbearing, and the atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed. If you’re looking for a truly memorable meal in Ithaca, The Heights should be at the top of your list.”
“Pleasant dining experience, the Octopus and Cauliflower appetizers were excellent. The entrees were fine but were not on the same level as the apps. The lava cake served its purpose. The dining room was very comfortable and service was on point”
