“This ramen was the closest we could find to ramen from a spot in Japan. The flavor and depth of the broth are spot on. The drinks were refreshing and unique using various ingredients I hadn't thought about using in a cocktail. The desert was very niche and I appreciated the various textures in it from the pudding, caramelized banana, crunchy wafer and the whipped cream. The service was extremely fast and they were so kind.”
“Came in on my birthday and was able to try the cabbages collab of the Steak au poivre ramen, my husband got the classic tonkotsu. Both were very tasty but the steak one was pretty intense flavors, really loved the tonkotsu though. The kakigori was delicious too!”
“We ordered the ban ban chicken mazemen, which comes with hot or cold options. We chose the cold one it’s served more like a mixed noodle dish, and it was delicious. We also had hojicha tea, which paired really well with everything. The atmosphere was calm and cozy.”
“Los Angeles had a noodle passport office, Tonchin LA would be stamping it with authority. 🍜✨ I went in expecting ramen. I left emotionally attached to a bowl. The undeniable must have? Tonkotsu Tsukemen. These dipping noodles are an experience, not just a dish. The broth arrives rich and concentrated, like it has stories to tell. Deep pork flavor, layered and intentional, balanced with just enough brightness to keep every bite interesting. The noodles are thick, springy, and built to carry that luxurious broth without surrendering their texture. Every dip feels curated. Nothing overwhelms. Nothing gets lost. It is bold but disciplined. To sip alongside it, the matcha martini is the move. Smooth, slightly sweet, and elegantly earthy. It feels playful but still refined, like Tokyo met LA and decided to collaborate. And to seal dinner properly, the Tokyo Banana dessert. Light, nostalgic, and gently sweet. It closes the meal without weighing you down, just a soft final note that lingers in the best way. Tonchin LA is not just ramen. It is precision, comfort, and craft in one bowl. If you go, go hungry and order the tsukemen. Your future self will thank you. 🍜🍸✨”
“Phil, the manager at Tonchin LA, welcomed us as their first Blackbird app customers, setting the tone for an evening of standout ramen and warm hospitality. The classic tonkotsu delivered exactly what you want from LA’s ramen scene: creamy, pork-forward broth with tender chashu that practically melted. We also tried the tsukemen, which featured excellent chewy noodles, though the dashi-heavy broth leaned more on seafood notes than I typically prefer. The cucumber salad stole the show as a starter. The dressing had this addictive sweet-tangy quality that had us scraping the bowl. Shishito peppers came blistered and smoky, though be warned: a few pack serious heat that’ll catch you off guard. The tsukune buns were another highlight, with well-seasoned chicken meatballs in soft, pillowy buns. For dessert, the Tokyo Banana was a fun, not-too-sweet finish. Our corner booth was extremely dim, making it tough to read the menu or photograph the food. The staff brought extra candles, which helped, but the lighting remains an issue worth noting. Service was attentive throughout. When a cocktail we didn’t order appeared on the bill, our server corrected it immediately without fuss. High-quality ramen and thoughtful Japanese small plates make Tonchin worth a visit. Just maybe request a brighter table, or bring your phone flashlight for the menu.”
