“Amazing. Best sushi I've had in a while. The Bar Brava roll was ridiculously good. If you can swing it, the waygu sando is an experience. Melts in your mouth. The Tuna Crisp were a delicuous starter. Service was great. 10/10 will be back.”
“Bar Brava is such a fun spot for natural wine lovers. The selection is always interesting and full of small producers you don’t see everywhere. Joao Pato and Domaine du Possible were a couple of standouts on my visit. The staff really know their wines and make great recommendations, which makes the experience even better. The vibe is relaxed but energetic, perfect for a casual night out or a drink before dinner. Definitely one of the best natural wine bars in Minneapolis.”
“Great food and wine! Very relaxing calm environment. Big shout out to the chef and staff. Everyone is so welcoming and the customer service was amazing. Great date night spot. We highly recommend coming here!”
“Had monthly date night with my partner here yesterday! It was a pretty good time; plenty of street parking, very cozy atmosphere and our server was phenomenal. I enjoyed both wines that I ordered, and we tried a few dishes since they were smaller plates. The potato dumplings were spectacular, and the special of the night (The Salmon) was very refreshing; the beet risotto that was paired with it complimented the fish perfectly. The Basque Cake was beautiful and had its sweetness brought out with the bit of sea salt on top along with the tang of the cream off to the side. The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the cracker/bread to cheese ratio on the cheese plate, as well as a couple of the cheeses felt a bit flat to me in terms of flavor. I know the menu rotates quite frequently though and would be excited to have another outing in the future to try even more wonderful dishes here!”
“I stopped in here a few weeks ago as I was really intrigued by the idea of having different chefs rotating through. Plus, I love Asian food so I figured why not give it a shot. I loved the exposed brick inside and the overall aesthetic of the space. It wasn't something I was expecting in an area like this! When I visited, the restaurant was being run by Jook Sing: Chefs Tony Gao and Mike Yuen. There were a couple things that caught my eye on the menu, but I ended up deciding on going with the Mala Tartare as an appetizer and the Hug-in-a-Bowl as my entree. The Mala Tartare was an objectively well executed dish in my opinion. It used high quality NY Strip which was super delicious and tender. The only thing a bit powerful for me was the chili. It did pack a little punch and made my tongue a bit numb. So, I would have personally had my entree first and then this since my taste buds were a little wonky after eating it. I did like the use of the prawn chips as well. They provided a good crunch and paired well with the theme of the chef's style of cooking. From what I could taste, I liked the Hug-in-a-Bowl as well which was fried eggplant in a sweet and savory garlic sauce with a side of rice. I think it also had a type of root vegetable or potato in it which I liked just as much or even more than the eggplant. After some research, it looked very similar to a dish I came across called Di San Xian! The only critique I have here was the rice was a bit crunchy instead of being moist, light and fluffy. I'm not sure if this was the style of rice but I actually kind of liked it in a way. I think I could've just used a little more rice. The eggplant dish was also just a tad bit salty. As for the prices, I don't think they were anything too crazy. I could easily see a couple going out and ordering both of these and being fulfilled. I also had reservations right at opening during the week and got a parking spot in their small lot but parking is the only thing which could be a little tricky if it is later in the evening or you're visiting on the weekend.”
