“Service was great. Came to dinner here to go inside the historic brutalist building. Lovely design and a comfortable dining area. All the sourcing of the items for the restaurant are listed on the menu. Had the hummus, the Azuma salad, and garlic Parmesan wings. Everything was tasty, especially the salad and pita bread.”

“This is the #142nd restaurant I have dined at in New Haven. The hotel wasn't busy at lunch time. I ordered a haus burger with local soda which were both good. For just over $20 I got to enjoy the atmosphere of a well-lit hotel hall while eating. The waitress was very nice and served the food with great dexterity.”

“I had breakfast at BLDG, located inside the Marcel Hotel, and it was such a pleasant experience. I ordered the BLDG breakfast plate, and everything came out hot, fresh, and flavorful. The potatoes were seasoned perfectly, the bacon was crisp and well-cooked, and the eggs were done just right. The toast was a little firm to chew, but it was nicely toasted and came with delicious whipped butter, which was a nice touch. The service stood out — friendly, attentive, and quick without feeling rushed. I also really appreciated that some of the food items were locally sourced, which the menu highlights. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming, making it a great spot to relax and enjoy a meal. Overall, both the food and the service were excellent. “Better than expected hotel restaurant for breakfast. Only had breakfast so don't know about lunch/dinner. The drip coffee was surprisingly good! Service for breakfast was slow - this was a business trip and I was lucky that my colleague was running late. There is takeout at the bar. Skip ordering poached eggs - mine were definitely too hard - the waitress offered to have them remade but given how long they took that was unrealistic. I still like eggs even if they're not as ordered...”

“There were four of us on a Saturday night and we got right in without reserving. The service was great and the food was very nicely presented and very tasty. They are part of "restaurant week" with a pre-fixed menu for those that like that offer. It was a great way to see the icon building and the comfy, stylish hotel lobby.”
