This neighborhood bar-restaurant occupies the site of a 1920s bank. The décor is inspired by nineteenth century Parisian establishments. Terra Cotta textured walls, brass metal archways, dimly lit chandelier’s, copper table tops & curved leather banquette seating create a unique and intimate setting. Executive Chef John J. Loughran, formerly of River Café in Brooklyn, has created a menu that changes seasonally. Using the best of locally sourced ingredients, Chef John’s philosophy is to buy local and be creative. This is evident in every dish you taste at The Banc. Our cocktail program uses fresh fruit and other natural ingredients. A secondary Whiskey Bar located in what was once the bank vault provides an intimate space to host private events stocked with upwards of 100 whiskeys. Our outdoor café provides the largest terrace dining in Murray Hill and is open year-round, weather permitting. We feel that tasty food & flavorful drinks provided with honest friendly service at an affordable price is a great way to win someone over. We hope that someone is you. Enjoy!
“Absolutely loved my experience at Banc Café in New York! From the moment we walked in, the ambience was just incredible – such a cool, vibrant atmosphere that instantly sets the tone for a great time. The food was unreal… every dish was packed with flavour and beautifully presented. You can tell real care goes into what they serve. The music was also spot on – the perfect mix that added to the whole vibe without being overpowering. What really stood out though was the service. The staff were so attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming, which just made the whole experience even better. Honestly, one of the best spots we visited in New York – would 100% recommend and can’t wait to go back!❤️”
“Always our first stop once we hit New York, delicious food, great drinks and fabulous service! The range of cocktails were amazing, and the perfect spot to hit after a day wondering Manhattan! Brilliant vibes with live music and wonderful friendly staff! Can’t wait for my next trip to New York for another visit!”
“Went here recently and it was amazing. The food was unreal, the burger was spot on, really juicy and full of flavour, and the profiteroles were class, definitely worth saving room for. The service made it even better. Everyone was really friendly and just made you feel comfortable, not rushed at all. Tom in particular was great, really sound, chatty, and made sure everything was perfect for us. There was also a great crowd in, which really added to the atmosphere, and the band playing were brilliant, proper good vibes all night. Would 100% go back again”
“This is a great place to sit outside and grab a drink when the weathers nice, which is exactly what we did. On Sundays they have $23 wine bottles so we came for dinner as a party of 4 and sat outside. The vibes were great. I felt the food was pretty average, nothing stood out to me. I ordered the pasta and thought it would have more of a sauce. The fig flatbread wasn’t bad. Overall it’s a good vibe but I’d only come back for the drinks.”
“We ordered one drink and two apps. They brought us those, plus another drink any a shot. We told four people we didn't order the extra beverages before somebody took them away with an absolutely puzzled look. They seem desperate to upsell to the point they'll bring and charge you for several things you DIDN'T order. I don't recommend this place. It's a bit desperate, embarrassing, and pathetic. Do better. Attorney General Leticia James is gonna hear about the sad attempt to steal money from hardworking New Yorkers. Unless you want in on a class action lawsuit, don't come here. It's just sad. Sorry 🫤. The bang bang shirmp was okay though.”
