Nestled at the corner of Flatiron and Nomad, Borgo features two great rooms connected by a hearth, an open kitchen with a wood-burning oven, a lively, generous bar and lush back garden. With the warmth from its hearth setting the tone, Borgo serves grower-focused, ingredient-driven cuisine that has earned Tarlow loyal followings at his other destinations. Italian-leaning with a continental bent, the menu features abundant seasonal vegetables, fresh pasta, and wood-roasted meat and seafood. Tarlow, alongside a talented team including Chef Jordan Frosolone, General Manager Rashaad Jones, and Wine Director Lee Campbell, aims to create a warm, community-centered dining experience. ** Global Dining Access: https://resy.com/global-diningaccess
“Beautiful space and really large. The focaccia and crudo were good appetizers. The pastas were really great and enjoyed those the most. The rhubarb tart was extremely strong which I like because I love rhubarb. The two of us got 2 apps 2 pastas and one main. As well as a dessert. We were full but we could have probably gotten 1 more app to share. 1 more entree if you’re really hungry”
“Went to lunch while visiting from Minneapolis, I had heard good things but the experience was just beyond expectations. The food is simple but perfectly executed and beautiful. Our bartender was delightful, he gave us great recommendations. The sardines were amazing, we got the special pasta, which was incredible, and I’m going home to the restaurant I cook at to put some sort of fava bean puree on the menu because I am so inspired. I’m not usually a huge Italian food fan but this blew me away. Great experience, beautiful atmosphere, wonderful food. I’ll recommend it to everyone.”
“The space is beautiful and warm. The service was uneven, our waiter was fantastic but the guys pouring water and removing plates were weirdly aggressive. When filling water they were moving so fast they spilled several times, splashing our food and phone. And they kept trying to remove plates before we were done, it felt like they wanted us to hurry up and leave. The food is really solid to great. We loved the focaccia, arancini and lasagna. The fettuccini and chicken cacciatore were both super flavorful! Desserts were okay. Overall, Borgo was a really solid experience!”
“We went to Borgo for my husband’s birthday and had a wonderful evening. We were seated in a cozy corner booth right across from the kitchen, which we loved being able to watch the action. The service was impeccable from start to finish - attentive, warm, and genuinely thoughtful. The food was beautifully executed and truly delicious. Each dish felt carefully crafted, with bright flavors and a clear attention to detail. We started with the focaccia, which was surprisingly outstanding. As was the non-alcholic pear wine from Normandy! I can still taste that deliciousness just talking about it. We also enjoyed the olives and the buffalo mozzarella with smoked beets. The ravioli di zucca was flavorful, but the portion was very small for the price. The hen of the woods mushrooms weren’t my favorite (likely a texture thing for me, my husband enjoyed them), and dessert felt like something we could have skipped. The only reason I took off a star was the pricing. While the food was good, the prices felt a bit steep for what we received, especially given the small portion sizes on some dishes. Overall, it was a lovely birthday dinner with excellent service and memorable food.”
“Congrats on winning a James Beard for your beverage service. It's a shame that our waiter didn't even ask us if we wanted a beverage when we had lunch yesterday. As judges for the Beards (not the restaurant category), we were underwhelmed by his service. Yes, we were offered and received sparkling water, but it customary to be asked if we would like a beverage in addition to water. It's really weird to be eating your appetizer and be told that your mains are coming out. Our waiter proceeds to bus part of the table and says he'll come back for the rest. Then, he comes back for the rest and the food doesn't come out. There was this 15 minute gap. Why was he rushing me? ”Wish I'd been there", was what our waiter said to my friend when she told him I was trying to get his attention regarding the undercooked potatoes on my tuna before is eaten the rest of the meal. The idea is to eat the entire dish together but he never looked in the direction of the table while we were eating our mains. We really wish he had been there too! SMH The room is lovely. The food is well presented. The arancini was the best dish. Crunchy, cheesy and nicely spicy from nduja. The vignarola was tasty. There was no hint of smoke in cherries on the mozzarella dish. The risotto with the flavorful short rib was completely bland. The waiter struggled to explain what made the lobster pasta special and maybe that's because it wasn't? I didn't taste it, but my co diner said the pasta let down the dish. I'm not sure why the manager came over to thank me for letting them know that the potatoes were undercooked since he followed with the chef didn't seem to agree and no one offered to bring me cooked potatoes after 1/3 of my meal went into the garbage. Weird service move. Two of us have had Borgo in our hit list for months, but we were disappointed to the point that we skipped dessert even though it was my birthday.”
