Bungalow, the latest concept from Michelin-starred culinary virtuoso chef Vikas Khanna and Bombay House Hospitality team that own's and operate GupShup, Chote Miya and Ammi; offers a nostalgic journey into India’s vintage clubhouses. With a curated menu and an ambiance inspired by these opulent clubs, Bungalow invites guests to experience history, culture and an exceptional cuisine. Bungalow is a celebration of the memories woven into the fabric of India’s sprawling country clubs. We named our restaurant after the single-storied houses built with European influences, which later became hotbeds of retro revelry and social gatherings among Indian aristocrats—birthing a subcuisine of their own. At Bungalow, passion meets palate, and every meal is an unforgettable memory. Join us as we reimagine India’s bygone years, one dish at a time. Reservations open every day at 11 am EST except Tuesdays for the 20th day in advance.
“Visiting Bungalow has been a dream for us as big fans of Chef Vikas Khanna, and celebrating my partner’s birthday here was the perfect occasion. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by a beautiful, authentic aroma and homemade mitai in the lobby that sets the stage for an out of body experience. We were completely starstruck by Chef Vikas; his humility and genuineness are incredible. He was working all night, personally engaging with guests, which added such a special touch to the evening. The food is in a league of its own. The Yogurt Kebab was an absolute explosion of flavor, and the Chicken Anarkali blew my mind - the balance of tangy, cheesy, and spicy was perfection. We also loved the Pineapple Curry (it gets better with every bite!) and the Banana Ketchup was a delightful surprise. My only small note is that the Paneer Lazeez lacked a bit of the punch the other dishes had. While the direct service was decent as our server wasn’t that warm and engaged, the head chef, hostesses and the server assistants were exceptionally kind and attentive. Truly a night to remember! Thank you Bungalow NYC team for the best night.”
“We’re visiting from Canada, and the moment we decided on a NYC trip, the very first reservation I looked for was Bungalow. It has been on my bucket list for the longest time, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The restaurant is stunning, with a warm and cozy vibe that makes you feel comfortable right away. Every single person we interacted with was friendly, polite, and genuinely welcoming, which made the experience even better. We started with the yogurt kebab, which was so unique and incredibly delicious. For mains, we had the eggplant bharta and daal Bungalow, and both dishes were rich, flavorful, and perfectly done. The naan and tandoori were also really good. The five cheese kulcha was decent, but the chutney served with it was honestly the highlight. For dessert, we tried the rose kulfi falooda and it was sooo good, easily one of the best parts of the meal. We also got to meet Chef Vikas, who was so warm and kind. That moment made the experience feel even more special. Overall, such an amazing dining experience and it truly made our NYC trip even more memorable. Would 100 percent recommend.”
“hospitality, decor, and vibes are all a 10/10 here and vikas khanna is so warm and friendly. he really created such a beautiful restaurant and it shows in every detail. the food for me was hit or miss- the dishes were different and modern while incorporating traditional flavors which i appreciated, but i didn’t find the entrees to be extraordinary. the yogurt kebab was my favorite and the mango 3 ways was delish for dessert. would recommend to celebrate something here bc they bring a free dessert and he comes to your table to give it too which is so nice. worth experiencing once but its insane how hard it is to get a table here.”
“We recently visited Bungalow to celebrate our anniversary, and overall it was a lovely experience. The ambiance is beautiful and perfect for a special occasion. We really enjoyed the vibe of the place—it feels elegant but still warm and welcoming. For drinks, we tried the Guava Lemonade and a Falsa mocktail (I don’t remember the exact name), and both were refreshing and delicious. For appetizers, we ordered the Dahi Kebab and Achari Stuffed Panner. Dahi Kebab was absolutely amazing—definitely one of our favorite dishes of the evening. For the main course, we had the Okra dish and Old Delhi Chole. We really liked the okra—it was flavorful and well prepared. However, the chole was just okay and didn’t stand out as much as we expected. For dessert, we tried the Rose Kulfi. If you are a big fan of rose flavor, you’ll probably enjoy it. For us, it was good for a one-time try. One small detail that made the experience special was the little candy in a red packet at the end. It instantly reminded me of my childhood, which was such a sweet nostalgic touch. Overall, it’s good to visit Bungalow at least once for the experience.”
“Bungalow is an experience. The moment you enter, the decor mesmerizes you. Sweet treats are kept for you to gorge on while you wait to be seated. You can grab a cocktail from the bar while you wait. The paan flavored old fashioned was the highlight drink of the night. To start with, the dahi kebabis a must!! That's the best food on the menu. All the other stuff we ordered were also very good but didn't stand out from a slightly lesser priced Indian restaurant. The service is amazing, the atmosphere amazing and overall an excellent experience. We didn'teet Vikas Khanna as he was out for a food show filming and hence missed the best part of the Bungalow experience.”
