Café Boulud and Maison Barnes offer two experiences at one address, with cuisine and hospitality by Chef Daniel Boulud. Café Boulud, a sophisticated Upper East Side destination for almost three decades, has a new home for its menu inspired by the chef's four culinary muses: French tradition, the rhythm of the seasons, the vegetable garden, and the international flavors of the world cuisines. Maison Barnes, with its Parisian gilded age setting, is new to New York City and brings you exclusive French art de vivre experiences in its bar & lounge, restaurant, and three private dining rooms.
“What a wonderful evening at Café Boulud at Maison Barnes. The ambience in Le Salon is fantastic- intimate, beautifully decorated, and uniquely designed. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. Our captain Danny deserves special recognition as he provided a level of service, professionalism and humor that went above and beyond, even by Michelin dining standards. The food was outstanding, with standouts being the Tarte Carotte-Vadouvan, the Salade de Printemps, and of course, the "Chobster" which represents "comfort food extraordinaire", and is well worth a splurge if you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity. Overall, a very memorable dining experience, and I look forward to my next visit. Merci pour cette merveilleuse soirée!”
“Excellent attention to detail, presentation of each dish was amazing. Everything we tried was tasty, tartlet with caramelized sweetbreads was quite unique. Cod confit was also delicious. There are several areas in the restaurant which creates a more private feel, ambiance is quite different in each area. Madelines were so light, a perfect finish for any meal if you are looking for something light.”
“Café Boulud is a gem. From the warm, polished service to the exquisite food, everything here feels effortlessly refined. I started with the pâte en croûte-flaky, rich, and beautifully spiced-followed by the coq au vin, which was fall-apart tender in a deeply flavorful red wine sauce. My dining companion had the sole meunière, perfectly filleted tableside and bathed in brown butter. The ambiance strikes the ideal balance: elegant but never stuffy, with soft lighting and crisp white tablecloths. The wine list is well-curated, and the sommelier's recommendation was spot-on. For dessert, the vanilla mille-feuille was light as air with a caramelized crackle on top. Yes, it's expensive, but worth every penny for a special occasion-or just because you love outstanding French cuisine. Daniel Boulud's team delivers flawless hospitality without a hint of pretension. Can't wait to return.”
“My boyfriend and I went for Valentine’s Day. It was so wonderful. The prix fixe meal was delicious. The mushroom risotto was the best risotto I’ve ever had in my life! And the desserts were so artfully displayed. Every bite was amazing. Service was impeccable, with strong attention to detail. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. Highly recommend.”
“Beautiful AND delicious food, great ambiance and excellent service. This was one of the best dinners my husband and I have ever experienced. We loved portion sizes as well. On top of that, the kitchen was willing and able to speed our service to make sure we make it to the concert we had. We are looking forward to many more amazing meals at this restaurant, highly recommend.”
