“I came here for dinner with some friends. We got the spicy cumber, mapo tofu, triple cooked pork, fried rice, and soft shell crab. We also had two bottles of Sake. Everything was good and the service was good as well.”
“But when I stumbled into Cafe China just down the street from my hotel, I was so pleasantly surprised. It's safe to say it blew my expectations away. The space is incredibly quaint, relaxing, and beautifully styled. It has a gorgeous vintage vibe that makes you want to linger, offering a perfect escape from the chaotic city streets outside. Let's just say it could easily hold its own in the competitive Vancouver food scene. Everything was incredibly flavorful, fresh, and executed with serious skill. High praise, but well deserved! Finding exceptional service, authentic Chinese food in the heart of Manhattan can be a gamble, but Cafe China is the real deal. Whether you're a local or a picky out-of-towner, this spot is highly recommended. I dined in solo and had the Lime Ice Tea (house-made), Tofu Ribbons in Scallion Oil, Pork Soup Dumplings, Tea Smoked Duck with whole wheat buns.”
“I had dinner here on Friday with my friend and her family. Café China did not disappoint. The restaurant is stylish, the food is flavorful and the cocktails classic and made to perfection. The service was also very good. We were a party of 7 and were seated in our own area in the back, which felt private but not secluded from the other diners. I wish I had a better photo to post, but everything we ordered (and we ordered a lot) was quickly devoured... The green beans, soft shell crab and Kung Fu Shrimp were my favorites. You should go.”
“We had a truly wonderful dinner at Cafe China in NYC. We were seated in the upstairs dining room, which made the experience feel even more special and intimate. We ended up ordering quite a lot of dishes, but every single one was absolutely delicious, prepared with great care and remarkable skill. Among the appetizers, the ones that impressed me the most—and that I highly recommend—were the Tofu Ribbons in Scallion Oil, the House Smoked Tofu, and the Mung Bean Jelly. Each dish was unique, perfectly balanced, and full of flavor. For the entrées, as a vegetarian, I was especially impressed by the Sautéed Shiitake Mushrooms and the Eggplants in Garlic Sauce—both were outstanding. The other people at the table thoroughly enjoyed the Braised Pork Szechuan Style, the Ma Po Tofu, and the Short Ribs in Claypot. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Highly recommended if you’re looking to experience high-level Chinese cuisine, especially authentic Szechuan-style dishes.”
“I’ve been trying various Sichuan spots and cafe china came highly recommended. We tried various dishes; the jumbo prawn, three pepper chicken, spicy fish fillets, spicy cumin lamb, fried rice, and scallion pancake. The chicken, fish and shrimp all seemed to have the same flavor, the peppercorn was very prominent and it was all spicy. The cumin lamb was ok, and the fried rice and scallion pancakes were good. The three pepper chicken was probably my favorite, but overall nothing stood out to me.”
