“What a vibe! Delicious food, awesome DJ, great drinks. Can't go wrong. You don't need to make a reservation, but I recommend it as it can get busy. My group was about 110 per person. There were a lot of drinks ordered, multiple appetizers AND dinner, so could have been worse elsewhere. Like everything else in this economy right now, the prices have gone UP. Still affordable if you do it right.”
“I went to Cinco de Mayo at El Coco, and I wanted to leave a review highlighting the amazing experience we had with the host at the front door, Andy. Andy was handling the door during one of the busiest days for a Mexican restaurant, Cinco de Mayo, so you could imagine how hectic the restaurant was. There were reservations ahead of us, and since we didn’t have reservations, there was a waitlist. Despite how busy everything was, Andy kept a smile on his face the entire time. He communicated clearly with me and the other parties waiting, letting us know that reservations had to be honored first, but that we would be added to the waitlist. Once he noticed more people coming in, he quickly created an organized waitlist in his notes. Another young lady from a different party even commented on how fast and innovative he was for doing that. The entire time, Andy stayed calm, professional, and welcoming while managing what I believe is one of the hardest positions in a restaurant on a busy day. The person handling the door creates the first impression of the restaurant, and Andy represented the restaurant extremely well. What stood out most was that he never seemed frustrated. He kept his composure, stayed kind to everyone, and continued smiling while handling all the parties coming in without reservations. I want his employer to know that, from my perspective, Cinco de Mayo felt successful because of how well Andy handled the front door experience. The party behind me seemed to feel the same way.”
“I really enjoyed dining at El Coco , I had brunch here and it was absolutely delicious and there’s a $20 Bottomless drink menu for 2 hours that includes (Mimosas, Bellini, Bloody Mary, Brunch Is Available Saturday and Sunday from 12-4pm For The Entrees I had To Get The Chicken and Waffles , it was so delicious perfectly fried crispy chicken ,and the best waffles with seasonal fruit I also had the Steak & Eggs It was prepared and seasoned perfectly. I even tried the Everyday Happy Hour and the $5 Dollar Margarita it was perfect. There’s also so many great options on the Everyday Menu like a $7 Birria Taco that is one of the best I’ve had, and delicious empanadas with many flavors to choose from. The Service and Vibes Are Great. This is definitely one of my new favorite restaurants in NYC.”
“Burnt food and poor service. I visited an hour before closing on Friday night (4/18). Disappointing experience - would not recommend this spot. The tacos were terrible - the pork in the Al Pastor tacos were visibly very burnt and ruined the meal. The service was poor. They didn’t offer water or cutlery or napkins. I sat at the bar but the staff were inattentive and difficult to get hold off, and the overall experience was unsatisfactory. Skip this spot. There are tons of better Mexican spots around.”
“Came here for Cinco De Mayo, was crowded to be expected. Was seated in area where we have 1 hour to dine, except when you sit down it takes a few minutes to find someone to take your order. Only for me to scream my order to my waitress because the music is extremely loud. It wasn’t at a level for a restaurant? There’s no dance floor. it’s disorganized. The staff seemed overwhelmed and unimpressed. The food was mediocre. Wasn’t bad but for the price no. The lemon drop was delicious though. I did like that the fish in the fish taco wasn’t battered. The guacamole I paid $3 for was 1/4 of avocado mashed, no salt, no flavor, no onions, no lime. The salsa provided wasn’t good or spicy and nothing had flavor.”
