Jack & Charlie’s 118 is a restaurant by Ed Cotton offering creative new American cuisine in an iconic NYC restaurant space.
“This is a true hidden gem in the village. I’ve been coming to this spot for more than two years and it’s always great. In my opinion (as an Argentinian who grew up eating steak) this restaurant has one of the best in the city. The secret is the wood fired oven, one of the few remaining. Besides that, the wine list is fantastic, it’s a beautiful restaurant and the service is always great. Highly recommend and much better than all the trendy average restaurants around it. Try it out and you’ll see.”
“Jack & Charlie’s has become our family favorite. We enjoy lunch, dinner and the bar for a light stack and drinks. The service is always to friendly and welcoming. Crystal, the manager, always meets us with a smile. The food and drinks are great. Eddie the bartender knows how to make the best spicy margaritas and negronis. There is something for our whole family to eat and enjoy. Some of our favorites are the Chopped Tuna, Baby Lamb Chop, Shepherd’s Pie Croquettes, Brick Chicken and the “bone-in” Duck Meatloaf. We also love the Cheeseburger and fries. The space provides the perfect atmosphere no matter what time of day. The bar is intimate, the front room casual and lively, and the back dining area is bright and beautiful to dine in for a special occasion or just a Tuesday night out. We are so happy to have Jack & Charlies in our neighborhood. It’s are true local gem.arlie's is our local”
“The meatloaf and tartare were both amazing. The interior design is beautiful and exactly my taste very stylish and cozy at the same time Only thing I’d improve is the wine glasses, since I really appreciate good glassware with wine. Also didn’t fully understand why happy hour is only for the outdoor area But overall, the food was excellent and I’ll definitely be back”
“Came here on a friend’s recommendation for their Sunset Menu and it did not disappoint! The Jack Jr Burger was quite filling alongside some fries plus another round of fries specifically the Rosemary & Parmesan Fries with truffle aioli, and the Caesar Salad was very crisp and refreshing especially in this NYC Summer heat. I enjoyed sipping on my Jane Street mocktail, which was zesty, bubbly, and beautifully presented. The staff were so kind and welcoming, even letting me cool off inside before the dinner service started. The space itself feels elegant, like a modern country club and beautifully arranged bar. Definitely worth visiting especially for their Sunset Menu with friends!”
“We were there with another couple earlier in Dec. The husband and his son are also in the restaurant business. His son recommended this place. First impression was nice. The restaurant was festively decorated to reflect the holiday season. I wanted to get a drink at the bar but we didn't get there early enough. The bar didn't look that spacious and while there were plenty of tables, the space felt tight to me. We sat at a round table where 3 of us were on the "booth" seat and one sat on the chair. While I felt fine where I sat, the couple's husband sat at the other end of the booth seat and the way he was positioned just seemed like he wasn't 100% at the table. He didn't say anything so I suppose it was fine. It got louder as the evening progressed, luckily we were kind of tucked away so I didn't have to raise my voice taking. One of us ordered the duck meatloaf, which is supposedly their signature dish. I had a bite and definitely prefer the normal duck dish. The branzino was good tho, it was fresh and not overcooked. Their hamburger was pretty standard, but the fries were good. The French martini was delicious and the other drinks looked pretty good, too. We shared two desserts, which were too sweet for me but then I don't have a sweet tooth. The other couple almost finished both, and I forgot to take pictures of them. The service was good overall. I say this with the holidays in mind. If you prefer comfort and space in addition to good food, this may not be a place for you. However, if you enjoy crowds and mostly a younger crowd, then by all means, check this place out.”
