Est. 1991. Jean-Georges' first restaurant, and named after his childhood nickname that his mother would call him, has recently reopened in a duplex townhouse on the Upper East Side, creating a modern and fresh design, yet still maintaining an understated, warm and friendly atmosphere. JoJo is a simple and casual neighborhood friendly restaurant serving a farm to table menu with mostly organic and local ingredients.
“I recently visited JoJo by Jean-Georges and honestly loved everything about it. The food, the service, the whole atmosphere just feel so easy and beautiful at the same time. We ordered a few things and every single one was amazing. The spicy tuna tartare with salad was so fresh and perfectly balanced, the chicken was delicious, the lobster was cooked perfectly, and the burrata was just incredible. You can really taste the quality in everything. The crowd and vibe make it even better, it feels chic but still relaxed and comfortable. It is one of my favorite spots for brunch and I highly recommend P.S Louis waiter is the best !!”
“Have been meaning to go to this resteraunt as I pass it all the time. Decided to stop in for early dinner on a Thursday, sat down no problem. The fluke ceviche and salmon dish were out of this world. The ginger margarita was also amazing. Cannot recommend enough!!! 10/10”
“I recently had dinner at JoJo by Jean-Georges and had a really enjoyable experience overall. The restaurant has a cozy and welcoming ambiance that makes it perfect for a dinner date or a family gathering. The service was impressive throughout the evening attentive, friendly, and professional without feeling intrusive. Most of the dishes we ordered were amazing and beautifully prepared, with great flavors and presentation. The only disappointment was the duck breast. Unfortunately, it came out overcooked and quite dry, which was surprising compared to the quality of the other dishes. Aside from that, everything else was excellent and made for a memorable dining experience. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a warm atmosphere, great service, and delicious food.”
“Sebastian was very attentive, timely as well. Great service. I was here on a Saturday midday so the Brunch menu was offered. Crispy chicken was good, there were no sauces served with the dish which seems odd as French cuisine has a sauce or two on every plate. This dish could have used a sauce as it was cooked well but was lacking that classic French flavor. The Rubarb cobler was unremarkable, similar to my entire experience. Good French wine by the glass is a plus. The atmosphere is casual and homey. Home run for date night. I would come here again for a well cooked meal. If your are looking for a traditional French experience this is not the place. I came here looking for that classic French Jean-George experience.... unfortunately I did not find it here at JoJo.”
“The food was decent. We ordered the fluke ceviche and it was so fishy in taste and order, they actually removed it from the bill. The crab dumplings were overpowered by lemon zest. My main dish - the Black Sea Bass was outstanding and my friend ordered the salmon which was also tasty. We did the butterscotch dessert and that was good too. I will say, the waiter forgot that I ordered a cappuccino and wasn’t the most attentive or friendly. The venue itself is cute but the vibe feels boring and stale. Not somewhere I’d visit again.”
