Chef Jean-Georges brings relaxed elegance to the West Village with Perry St, which opened in 2005 and has been awarded three stars by the New York Times. Chef Jean-Georges’ son, Cedric Vongerichten, helms the kitchen, creating dishes that reflect his own keen instinct for balancing flavor and texture with an exquisite blend of French, American, and Asian influences and ingredients. The menu is inspired by the season, centering on the local market at Union Square.
“Perry Street is longtime favorite of mine with a stunning room emanating light and West Village vibes. The hosts are world class and the food exceptional; the bartender can make a good drink. There are lovely french wines by the glass. I particularky adore the pancakes as well as various hummus creations If you are feeling health minded try one of the green ir red juices. A NY gem.......”
“Perry St Restaurant is a truly refined and elegant place with a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff is attentive, friendly, and genuinely positive, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. The food was absolutely delicious. We started with pumpkin soup, a salad, and a tuna roll as an appetizer — everything was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. For the main course, we had the feta omelet, served with crispy potatoes and a perfectly seasoned fresh salad. Every dish tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. We also enjoyed a cappuccino, which was the perfect way to start our day. Overall, it was a wonderful, healthy, and relaxing dining experience. I highly recommend Perry St Restaurant and look forward to visiting again for dinner.”
“We very much enjoyed our dinner. The atmosphere is very relaxed with low noise level. Service was attentive and smiling . Food was delicious. We had the chicken and also the sea bass . Both were nicely done . I would go again .”
“Had a business dinner here with colleagues on a Monday night. It was a course fixed by our leadership, so while choices were limited, there were some good options. With a party of 16, there were times when the staff seemed overwhelmed. The appetizer (I chose the burrata) was excellent. The main (blackened bass) was saved by the excellent roasted mushroom. The sides came 10 minutes after we finished our mains. They were good, but if you know you've got a large party with fixed sides... they said they were busy, but it's a Monday night in NYC... it's not THAT busy. Dessert (rhubarb pie) was ok. Drinks were good, but NY prices. All in all, I'm glad the company was footing the bill.”
“Just like any of Jean-George’s restaurants, there were some real winners on the menu. The scotch egg with caviar. The fried chicken - which ate like adult chicken nuggets in the best way possible. The blackened seabass. All delightful dishes and worth going to Perry St for. Unfortunately, I have also come to expect some misses at his restaurants as well. The ahi tuna was fine but unspectacular, same goes for the ricotta. The chocolate pudding lacked luster, and the ginger margarita - an apparent JG speciality - had zero ginger profile and was poorly balanced. We had to send it back. The meal came across like a whimsical, nostalgic stroll through childhood classics done in an elevated way, but the theme was inconsistent and the price point was Michelin level. This meal was certainly not that. For $150 a head I expect more than a fried egg and fried chicken on my tasting menu. The caviar was the only real extravagance, and it was excellent. But I came away wanting so much more than the menu delivered up. My recommendation, avoid the tasting menu if you come to Perry St. It’s not worth the price of admission.”
