“(Review from a March 2026 visit): Really calm, relaxing, friendly atmosphere. The large set is fun, the hamachi was tasty and the veggies were fantastic. Recommend the add on egg and ikura, so good over the rice. Okonomi is a wonderful spot I can’t recommend enough.”

Ben was the chef who prepared salmon belly for me both nights. Listened to “心臓の扉” Doorway to the heart by Mariah for the first time here. Fell in love with a girl here.”

“One of those quiet little places I almost want to keep to myself. A cozy Japanese home-style restaurant with only two set menu options, and reservations are pretty much a must. Once inside, it feels calm and intimate — just a handful of guests, soft conversations, and beautifully simple food. Everything is clean, balanced, and comforting without trying too hard. The kind of meal that makes you slow down and appreciate subtle flavors. Perfect spot for a peaceful brunch or lunch when you want something warm, thoughtful, and quietly special.”

“Everything here is so petite, exquisite and beautiful! The larger set is to die for! The salmon is perfectly grilled and the potato is heavenly. But my favorite of all is the egg that looks like a custard! It’s cooked with a lot of milk and it’s so comforting and satisfying and beyond delicious! I have to come back! This is definitely one of my favorite spots in New York City!”

“japanese is my favorite cuisine and I love simple, ingredient forward dishes. Having said that I feel like good japanese restaurants are very detail oriented and take great care in their choice of rice (both in terms of quality and taste) and I noticed this was not the case here. The fish also tasted a tad unfresh. The meal definitely gave a home cooked feel, but the lack of attention to detail for the price and what they seemed to be going for did not make this experience worth it for me.”
