Osteria Cotta

“Even though I know the neighborhood, I was delighted to recently discover Osteria Cotta when I was on an extended trip to NY. It was one of the highlights of my trip! It is the quintessential UWS neighborhood Italian restaurant. The menu has a very appealing menu, with options from “Small Bites” to full entrees. The woodburning oven is great feature, not only in terms of cooking but in terms of ambience. The bar is very welcoming and offers the optionality of dining there as well as at rustic tables.”

“Very accommodating to hard of hearing guests in our party and server Anna was hospitable and kind! We ordered pizza and pasta and all were fantastic. A cannot miss spot!”

“Met my brother here while visiting the city last weekend. When he told me they had the best wings in the city I was skeptical. Boy was he right!!! Perfectly cooked, with a nice crisp. The show stopper...the flavor! Rosemary Wings! We're originally from Central NY where buffalo wings are king. Im am now torn. We also had a nice pizza with basil, a pasta dish and some drinks. Throughout the few hours we were there the servers didn't let our glasses empty once, whether it was water or adult style! Will be a must stop anytime we visit!”

“Tried a Delivery tonight but despite being relatively close to my house (only a few blocks away) and having ordered the meat cooked “Rare” and an appetizer of 3 cold cuts (that’s why I know the order didn’t take long in the making) the food arrived at my house after almost 1 hour! So I don’t recommend delivery. I’ve had a steak that wasn’t bad but definitely not “rare” and lacking salt and it came with a side of what I first believed was arugula but it was something green right out of the bag and inedible because it only tasted like plastic! Now for the 3 cold cuts, I’ve had the sopressata (which I remember being spicy and this was not, so to me it was salami), Prosciutto Di Parma (which arrived sweating, like partially cooked because it was put above the fries container) that didn’t taste like how I remembered, good, but not Parma in my opinion (and I am Italian, born and raised) and the Speck was just as good but not the high quality I’m used to (like Senfter Süd Tirol). Overall the food is pretty good and the quality is similar to Italian excellence, but not quite like it. Oh, the rider also gave me a pizza with mushrooms and pancetta that wasn’t mine but when I called him back he didn’t pick up the phone! One free pizza you’d say, too bad I don’t eat mushrooms! I’m sure this restaurant is not bad at all but with NYC competition every detail counts!”

“I have been to Cotta a few times before and had very good experiences. So when my friends were coming to celebrate my birthday i thought this would be a great safe choice. I was extremely disappointed. We ordered a steak and asked for it to be cooked Medium, and the middle was completely raw as you can see below. When we told the waitress she said she would tell the kitchen but then all she offered was a free dessert and still charged us for the steak. i was appreciative of the free dessert, but when celebrating a birthday, getting a raw steak is extremely disappointing. I do not think we will be returning for a while.”
