A neighborhood staple, The Standard Grill serves American brasserie cuisine utilizing the freshest local ingredients, from the extensive fresh daily raw bar and dry-aged steaks to the classic Standard Burger and shoestring fries.
“The Standard Grill nails that classic New York brunch energy — busy in the best way, stylish without trying too hard, and filled with the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned. Sitting in the heart of the Meatpacking District near the High Line, it feels like one of those places that captures NYC perfectly. The brunch menu is packed with comfort food done right. The burger was simple but executed perfectly — juicy, balanced, crispy fries on the side, and exactly what you want from a proper brunch burger. The cocktails were creative without being gimmicky, and the coffee program held its own too, which honestly matters more at brunch spots than most places realize. I also appreciated the details: clean menu design, great presentation, attentive service, and an overall vibe that feels both vintage and modern at the same time. Even the tables and dining room feel cinematic in that old New York brasserie kind of way. The Standard Grill isn’t just a brunch stop — it’s part of the whole NYC experience. Great food, great people watching, strong drinks, and the perfect location before or after walking the High Line. Definitely a place worth revisiting whenever I’m back in the city. — Jeffrey Umaña @jeffrey.umana | #LetThemDrinkArt”
“Totally caught off guard when we walked into this location 2 weekends ago with my wife for valentine weekend. She actually was craving oysters and honestly I think god just placed us at the right place , at the right time because holy cow! Amazing atmosphere and service from just walking into the place. The place is a place for breakfast , lunch and dinner. They literally have the restaurant broken up into different sections but they go together so seemingly. Check out the bathroom floor lol it’s really cool design.”
“Not crowded on a Thursday morning. Delicious egg white Omelette with Boursin, fluffy Pancakes and Blueberries, Crisp Bacon Side filled us up. Friendly wait staff. The front desk manager was not helpful, like the rest of the staff. Otherwise, we had a very nice time! Hard wooden seats don't encourage lingering.”
“Tucked away on the west side a nice indoor and outdoor restaurant with awesome service. Our waiter and waitress were excellent! Food was pretty good: salad was fresh, shrimp cocktail was good but shrimp sizes were more on the large side than jumbo plus inconsistency in sizes, and hanger steak was tasty but half was tender and the other half was chewy. Cheesecake pie dessert was ok.”
“1 PM on a rainy Saturday. Was inexplicably asked to wait 15 minutes – which turned into 20 – for a table even though the restaurant was half empty. When finally seated, waited another 10 for a server to notice us and come on by. We ordered right away. Luckily, the pistachio latte was delicious and the helpful waitress who delivered it mentioned I might not need sweetener, which I didn’t! Food arrived quickly delivered with a smile. Then had to wait a long time again just to get a check so we could go on our way. So, my review is: food delicious. Service spotty at best.”
