Virginia's is known as an East Village 'gem', known for its new American takes on classics such as its famous burger, steak frites, raw bar and martinis.
“The burger is the best thing on the menu for sure! We started with the crème fraiche dip and potato chips and little gem salad, had the burger and steak frites as our mains, and ended with the banana pudding and americanos. The highlights are definitely the burger and the banana pudding - you should definitely try this dessert!! It’s not too sweet and the perfect texture, also a lot of crumble which is my favorite part. The crème fraiche and salad were great quality ingredients but I probably would try other dishes on the menu. Steak was also good! The restaurant itself is pretty tight and cozy, I think it’d be best for a party of 2. Also, for the amount of food we got, the price was great!”
“The burger is pretty darn good. I’ve only had this on the menu but I’ve had it multiple times. Happy hour aka the happy meal for the burger is one of the better deals in the city especially for this size and cut. Comes with your choice of beer or wine (would recommend wine for the more value). Would like to try more items but need to go with friends and not on my break. Staff is pretty on point but not very talkative if you’re an extravert or enjoy chatting with bartenders when it’s slow. Vibe of the spot is nice but when you’re one of 5 guests during the day it’s a bit meh. Music choices were great for a friday night nyc playlist. Bathroom is especially clean and fresh. They have some nice touches and great smelling soap. They also take blackbird (IYKYK, don’t know hit me up for a free sign up and promo code!)”
“Keeper. The fries are quintessential. We went because I am in search of perfect burger. While I prefer a smash burger with a bit of char, this burger was mid rare and de.lish.ous. The burger to bun ratio was perfect and the patty was flavorful and not hidden with but rather complemented by the cheese and onion marmalade and marrow aioli. Really yum. We also had the fries and chips w onion dip and then also split the risotto which we enjoyed but disagreed on whether it was too sweet corn or pesto forward. The cocktails were crafty and yummy... We will be back.”
“Virginia is truly a hidden gem that deserves a spotlight. The charming eatery features a cozy, intimate setting with only a handful of tables, creating an inviting atmosphere. The walls are adorned with a display of framed menus that add character and warmth to the space. Not only is the ambiance delightful, but the food offerings are exceptional as well. The Brussels sprouts are a standout dish—crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor, perfectly seasoned to tantalize the taste buds. However, the real showstopper here is undoubtedly the burger. It's arguably the best in the city, although it would reach new heights if accompanied by a side of fries or chips. The patty itself is incredibly tender, and the layers of caramelized onions add a rich and savory sweetness that beautifully complements each bite. While the fries are decent, they don’t quite measure up to the burger's brilliance. I should also mention that our server was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, ensuring we had everything we needed for a memorable dining experience. Given the limited seating with around 15 tables, I strongly recommend making a reservation to guarantee your spot at this delightful restaurant.”
“Overall Virginia’s was a good experience with minor caveats. The hyped up burger is very good and $20 for this quality of burger is not so bad these days in New York. The atmosphere is also very nice and fun. However, the service was a bit off. I asked if the $5 bacon is the thick kind and I was told yes. After ordering it I realized I was scammed and this is a very normal thin cut bacon that definitely is not worth an extra $5. Waiters were also generally slow and not very responsive. Unfortunately, the bacon and the service in general got me to drop a star off the score of this place.”
