“I hosted a bridal shower at South + Pine and it was truly exceptional from start to finish. Alex, their event planner, was amazing to work with—so responsive, organized, and genuinely invested in making the day perfect. Her team executed everything flawlessly. The food was incredible, and they were extremely accommodating when it came to allergies and dietary restrictions, which gave me so much peace of mind as a host. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the mimosa bar and the java bar—such a fun and memorable touch! We went with a Mamma Mia-inspired theme, and they even customized the menus to match, which made everything feel so thoughtful and cohesive. Most importantly, the bride was beyond happy with the entire day. I would absolutely recommend South + Pine for any special event—they made it feel effortless and truly special. 💙”

“We had brunch outside on Sat. Shared two appetizers and two mains. Food was fresh and delicious! Service was great as well. Love the lamb meatballs, very tender. Salad was fresh. Came back and glad to see a fresh menu! Burrata appetizer was fresh, my salmon with kimchi rice was full of flavor and the desserts were great!”

“This is I think a proper execution for American cuisine. For starters, there were many things just a bit too overpriced, but there were some things I think were worth it. The salad was so good. And the salmon was just so flavorful and just so filling. The drinks were really good, I just wish it showed the prices on the drinks menu.”

“My girlfriend and I visited South+Pine in Morristown for her birthday lunch on a Saturday afternoon. While we were excited to try the place based on its glowing reviews, our experience turned out to be a bit uneven. Parking was a hassle, there's no dedicated lot, so we had to find street parking, which was metered and tough to come by on a weekend. We arrived around 3:00 p.m. and found the place nearly empty, with only one other table of diners inside. The space itself was cozy with a rustic charm, highlighted by unique wall decor made of old doors pieced together creatively. It had a quiet, relaxed vibe. We started off with drinks, the toasted coconut latte and the vanilla bourbon latte. Both were delicious, not overly sweet, and offered a nice balance of flavor and coffee. However, by the end of the drinks, the syrup had settled at the bottom, making the last few sips overly sweet, so I didn’t finish mine completely. For an appetizer, we shared the spicy lamb meatballs served over Greek yogurt and cucumber relish. They were flavorful, though definitely not spicy despite the name—barely a 1 out of 10 on the spice scale. For our entrees, I had the short rib and winter veggie hash with poached eggs and chipotle hollandaise, which was pretty good in terms of taste, but I was disappointed by how little short rib was in the dish, it leaned heavily vegetarian. My girlfriend ordered the Fried Chix 2.0 (chicken and waffles), and unfortunately, it was a major letdown. The chicken was bland and lacked seasoning, and even the waffles didn’t impress, which was especially disappointing since she’s a big waffle fan and didn’t even finish it. She said it was bland and chewy. Probably an over mixed batter. We also got a side of Polenta fries, made out of corn meal. These were pretty good, crunchy outer shell with a mushy seasoned corn meal on the inside. Service started out strong with a kind and attentive waitress who greeted us and brought our drinks. However, the second server who took our food order was less pleasant, her demeanor was curt and a bit rushed, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. At one point, she even pressured my girlfriend to order quickly, and I had to ask her to come back in a few minutes. Meanwhile, we could see some staff casually chatting at another table, which didn’t make the rushed vibe feel very justified. We decided to skip dessert and try another spot down the street instead. Overall, South+Pine had some highs, like the lattes and cozy atmosphere, but also several lows, particularly with the entrees and service. I suspect the rave reviews are more reflective of their dinner menu, which we didn’t get to try. I might consider coming back in the future for dinner, but as far as this birthday lunch went, it was just okay.”

“Just got back from dinner and am very disappointed. Positives: service was pretty good Negatives: It is brutally cold outside and because of how the entrance is setup you are guaranteed to be cold with the front door constantly opening. I mention this because the neighboring restaurant (cotto) has a small glass entrance before getting to the main door. Hopefully South and Pine can adopt something similar for the extreme cold winter weather. Food was not very good. Wife's fish (which cost almost $50) came out cold and was very dry. She sent it back (which she never does) and the manager quickly responded they would remake it. The next dish came out and was cooked well. I would've bumped up the score but we noticed that the piece of fish from the 2nd go round was significantly larger than the first dish. I find it interesting that not only was the first dish not prepared well but they also gave a much smaller piece of fish. My pork chop was just ok. Last thing, when we received our bill it omitted our two drinks. I thought this was a kind gesture given we weren't happy with the food but when our waitress ran my card and came back they added it back to the total. We have been coming to South and Pine for years. I hope this isnt the new norm.”
