Turtle + The Wolf is an American restaurant in the Montclair neighborhood of Montclair.
“I had my birthday dinner here again this year, and as always, it was amazing. Attentive staff, impeccable food, and we opted for the Pig roast this time. DO IT. Get your friends, order the pig. Just do it. Its amazing and such a great experience. And the chick liver is the best dish on the menu. Only complaint is that they still, after all this time, lack in the realm of vegan options. Personally I love the menu, but even a single composed vegan dish would make a huge difference in who I recommend this restaurant too. Love this place!”
“All the food was excellent. Well seasoned and beautifully presented. The service was very friendly, attentive, and accommodatingto our needs with a toddler. Atmosphere was nice, not too loud for conversation. They are by byob, but provided ice bucket and wine glasses”
“A fine American restaurant in Montclair. Food was pretty delicious. The starters, oysters (bad boy from Nova Scotia), fresh greens were fresh and refreshing. The entrees, brick chicken and pork sausage were decent. Although the sausage was a bit salty. Service was mostly good and friendly. Our waitress was helpful and fun. But we waited about 15 min from when we were seated to when our waitress came over to take drink orders. The table next to us, which came later than we did, was served before us. Apparently in a town and restaurant with mostly white people, this is what we get for being a minority. But it's okay, the food was good enough to overlook the initial lack of attention to us.”
“Had lunch here today with a work colleague. Ambiance is dim and comforting. We split the Persian cucumber salad, mussels, and ricotta meatballs. The cucumber salad was surprisingly good, the waiter recommended it. Fresh cucumbers cut largely served with a cheese. It had a little bit of spice and crunch, sweet and tangy elements. The meatballs were served with a few spears of broccoli rabe and a little polenta. The polenta wasn't creamy and lacked in seasoning. The broccoli rabe was seasoned perfectly, The meatballs were a little underseasoned as well and on the dry side, they serve just 2. The star of the meal was the PEI mussels. Portion size and cook was perfect. The broth was amazing, with plenty of garlic flavor and sliced shallots. It was served with a large soft piece of focaccia bread with perfectly charred edges, great for dipping. I would return to try new things.”
“Reality vs expectation , take out, whole fried chicken, 10 pcs, very very small chicken this place provides, I wouldn’t even buy a chicken this small at the supermarket, flavor fine, but all the attention went to the chicken size, small biscuits and on the plate a chicken leg.”
