Tequilas Restaurant was established in 1986 by owners David and Annette Suro. Our home is just like Mexico, full of color, varied textures and surprise encounters. Providing a Glorious and unforgettable experience from beginning to end.
“This was a last-minute decision, and it absolutely paid off. The atmosphere is classy, and the service is exceptional—servers are attentive, knowledgeable, and take the time to walk you through both the food and liquor menus. The dishes arrived promptly and were beautifully presented. We ordered several vegetarian options, and each one was delicious. Their cocktail selection is unique, and the mezcal was particularly impressive—strong and sourced from a small producer in Mexico. Our waiter’s recommendations were spot-on, making the entire experience even better.”
“Tequilas has always been one of Center City’s gems and one of my my favorite Mexican restaurants in the city. After being closed for a while due to the fire, it’s safe to say they’ve come back better than ever. The food is outstanding; each dish beautifully presented and layered with authentic flavors that feel both refined and comforting... From the tender barbacoa bathed in rich consommé to the fresh guacamole con atún and the indulgent queso fundido, every bite feels like a celebration of Mexican tradition elevated to fine dining. The service deserves its own praise. You can tell the entire staff, like the servers, busboys, food runners, they all work seamlessly together as a true team. Everyone is attentive, warm, and genuinely passionate about creating a great experience. Tequilas is not just a meal, it’s an experience- one that reminds you why this restaurant has such a loyal following in Philadelphia. I’m so glad they’re back, and even more impressed by how they’ve elevated every detail. Highly, highly recommend!”
“Visited for the first time in August 2025, after having heard great things for years. We had a decent experience -- great food but small portion size. Friendly servers but more focused on putting on a show than being attentive to what we needed. Took nearly 20 minutes to order our food but not because anyone was busy -- they were just not paying attention to us. I prefer La Jefa and El Milpa on the other side.”
“My fiancé and I went out for our anniversary dinner last night. The service was great—very friendly and attentive. The appetizers were a strong start: the guacamole and ceviche were both delicious and well prepared. Unfortunately, the experience fell short when it came to the entrées. I paid $44 for a plate of small, barely any meat, langostines that were extremely overcooked and completely lacking in flavor. I was hoping the sauces would help, but they tasted more like cocktail sauces and didn’t elevate the dish at all. The rice served alongside was lukewarm, as were the langostines themselves, which was disappointing. Thankfully, my fiancé had a more pleasant experience with the molcajete, which he enjoyed. After the entrée experience, dessert felt like a safer choice. I ordered the tres leches, but it was very basic to my taste—honestly less flavorful than versions I’ve had from a local Latin supermarket.”
“Not worth the hype! Overcooked, flavorless, tough steak. The chicken molcajete was decent, but the tortillas were dry. Guac was the best, but $$$. Basic drinks are better than the mixologist concoctions. Not likely to return.”
