“This place was a true dining experience! The staff to the chefs was truly amazing. I recommend the tasting menu, it allows you to understand the authenticity and story of Tulip Pasta & Wine Bar through their food. My boyfriend and I enjoyed ourselves so much we plan to take our moms to experience the same enjoyment we did. Can’t wait to be back”
“I’ve been here a few times. I am always impressed at the pasta, the menu changes often. I do love their pasta, and I definitely recommend it for that. My most recent visit I was disappointed in two things, my caesar salad was old lettuce I asked for it to be remade and it was, and that was good. Second, the wine by the glass menu is only PA wine… and I’m not sorry, PA wine sucks. It was very bad rosé I was excited to have a glass of rosé when they told me it was PA wine I thought it must be good if they have selected it but it was cough syrup. Don’t trust a PA wine. And as wine bar I expect better. Maybe this is the BYOB benefit of other Philly restaurants.”
“the fava bean ramp appetizer was a special for these few days but was my favorite meal of the night. plus the bread it came with was also heavenly. i hope they add it to the menu someday 🤞”
“This place is great! Service was great and our server/the staff was so attentive. Food was delicious, the family style is perfect in terms of serving sizes! We got the tuna crudo and squash arancini for starters. Then we got the mushroom tortellini, penne ala vodka, and the chitarra with meatballs. Dessert we had like a white chocolate pudding, and an apple pastry. Everything was delicious - our only complaints are that the mushroom pasta was slightly over salted, the peas in the penne felt a bit too hard and undercooked, and the desserts were a bit too sweet for my taste. Our favorites were the tuna, chitarra, and arancini. I recommend making a reservation but we walked in and sat at the chefs table (first come first serve) and it was so much fun watching them make our meal (shoutout to the chefs working tonight)! Note: I cant speak on regular serving sizes and their affordability/value since we only got family style.”
“We finally decided to try Tulip after hearing so many wonderful things, and the atmosphere was just as charming as expected. Our table by the front was lovely, and both the food and service were pleasant overall. The only disappointment came with the prix fixe policy. We had mentioned to our server that we didn’t want the prix fixe menu and instead chose to share a couple of appetizers and three pasta dishes among the four of us. After the meal arrived, the manager kindly stopped by but explained that our order technically counted as prix fixe, so we’d be charged $55 per person. It was a surprise and took a bit away from an otherwise nice evening. The pasta was tasty — fresh and nicely prepared — but felt a bit pricey given the final total (around $400 for four people, including drinks). Tulip has a lot of potential, and I can see why people enjoy it. My suggestion would be to simplify or remove the prix fixe option and perhaps make the wine pricing a bit more approachable, especially since the wines come from the same owned winery. A few small tweaks could make the experience feel much more inviting. Overall, a pleasant dinner with great company, but I hope to see some refinements before returning.”
