Since debuting in 2012, Vernick Food & Drink has become one of Philadelphia’s most regarded neighborhood restaurants. Chef Greg Vernick blends his personal style of modern American cooking with impactful, global flavors at his flagship location. An emphasis on wood-fire cooking, quality ingredients, and seasonality drive the extensive menu. A thoughtful wine and cocktail program round out the dining experience. Located in a bi-level brownstone in Rittenhouse Square, the restaurant features three different dining spaces; a vibrant bar and lounge with all unreserved seating, a cozy open kitchen dining room with a 6-seat chef’s counter, and a lively 2nd floor dining room overlooking Walnut Street. In 2019, after eight years of creating excellent dining experiences at Vernick Food & Drink, Chef Greg expanded into the neighboring building - just up the steps and next door at 2029 Walnut Street - to open Vernick Wine. Concepted as a wine shop by day and dining room by night, this sophisticated yet comfortable space is also available for private events, please send inquiries to events@vernickphilly.com.
“the food was excellent! everything was seasoned nicely and the flavor combinations were thoughtful and fun. the menu has a lot of variety and i’m glad to have tried so many different dishes. the service was excellent and attentive but not overbearing. my only complaint is the space could use a refresh. we sat on the ground floor by the kitchen, there’s no windows and the decor felt a little drab, and the space was pretty cramped.”
“Finally made it to Vernick Food & Drink (a month ago) and it completely lived up to the hype! Every dish felt really thoughtful. The standout for me was the miso brown butter seabass, which was just incredible. It was rich, perfectly cooked, and one of those dishes you keep thinking about after you leave. The overall vibe was relaxed and calm, not stuffy at all. The staff really stood out too. They were attentive in that almost predictive way, but never overbearing. Definitely one of those places that gets everything right without making a big deal about it.”
“Wonderful! Can say one of the finest in Philly. Food was spectacular. We ordered a bottle of wine to go with the food and the sommelier was knowledgeable and helpful in choosing the best wine. Our server, Ian, was attentive and friendly and gave us helpful recommendations. Highly recommend.”
“I would give 4.5 star to this close to excellent meal we had! The toasts, appetizers and small plates were all exceptional! Fish of the day was pretty good too. The recommended wines and drinks were fantastic! However, the prime beef was way too chewy and not very flavorful. Wish the beef quality was better. Overall, I would recommend Vernick for a nice night out!”
“10 OUT OF 10. As someone who's tried many different upscale and modern restaurants, I haven't had my expectations exceeded THIS much by a restaurant. My friend and I came here for my birthday and the food, drinks and service were amazing. We had oysters, grilled sea bass, braised lamb and a complimentary shot of a soup. I'm not exaggerating when I say every bite was amazing! Highly recommend.”
