Social House Seven is a Japanese restaurant in the Downtown Pittsburgh neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
“Social House is a positively outstanding restaurant! First discovered during the 2024 Best Bites Downtown and then for a pre-Benedum performance in 4Q 2025, my date and I were so impressed that we returned again on January 3, 2026, also pre-Benedum performace. From engaging and attentive servers (who made great menu recommendations) to well-crafted cocktails to flavorful robata (sat in a booth where we could watch the chefs!) and delicious socials/entrees, Social House 7 delivered an exceptional experience. The atmosphere warm and well designed. Highlights from January 2, 2026 were the Fusion Fashioned, Miso Glazed Salmon and Social House Salmon (see photos). A booth with a viewof the Robata chef added to ths evening. Highly recommend and plan to dine again soon!”
“Pleasantly surprised by Social House 7! Atmosphere much cooler than I expected- dark and purple lighting, cool intimate cubbies to sit in in the back, front of the restaurant open to air it was beautiful out- although that does allow bugs to fly in). Our server was great! Very friendly, good service, and gave us an extra roll on the house. We ordered vegetable gyoza, a vegetable noodle dish, the Godzilla roll, Crazy Salmon roll, tunarashi, and veggie roll. Ordered a bottle of cab sauv and another person had vodka on the rocks. The Godzilla and Crazy Salmon rolls were very unique and delicious with a smoky flavor, and one almost tasted like a cheeseburger or steak!”
“It’s a beautiful restaurant. The bar is impressive with a view of the street if you like to people watch. The service was good. The food was mostly great. The tofu appetizer was good. The side salad tasted like it didn’t have any dressing at all on it and was just a bowl of bare lettuces. I had to ask for extra dressing. The sushi rolls were really good. The fortune cookie dessert tasted like refrigerator and was way too chewy to cut or break apart. It was actually horrible and inedible. We were in a hurry to get to a show so I didn’t bother complaining. Just paid and left. I’d visit again but would definitely choose a different dessert!”
“This place is very much geared towards bachelorette parties and 21st birthdays. Filled with walls of flowers perfect for photo opps. However, the actual eating experience here is pretty sub standard. The cocktails are good, but overpriced even for the area. I have no problem paying $16 for a drink in the cultural district, as long as they meet the expectation for the price. The food portions are tiny, and we left hungry. Lastly, the service. When we sat at the bar, it took 10 minites for anybody to ask us for a drink order, and it wasn't busy. When we finally did get served everything was kind of disappointing. I like leaving positive reviews to help businesses, but there was very little positive to say about eating here. I understand the aesthetics are a focus of this establishment, but first and foremost it's still a restaurant.”
“We came here to celebrate a birthday. Our reservations were for 7 people at 7PM. We got there maybe a minute or two after. There was no table ready. We had to wait 15+ minutes for a table to be cleared. There were groups walking in after who were seated right away. Our table was right beside the entrance. Everyone at the table was cold. The double door entry is open at the top so every time someone would come in or out we were blasted with cold air. There was a spot on the booth seating that was broken. It was so dark where we were you couldn't read the menu. The service was terribly slow. I don't know if Our waitress was the only one working, but she didn't come around much. We ordered drinks. Two of the glasses were filthy and sticky. The water glasses on the table weren't much better. It didn't feel clean. One of the meals was labeled a mid-spicy and it was inedible. Good flavor but certainly not mid-spice. Another meal was ordered with waygu. It was a chipped beef, not slices. For something that was nearly as expensive as the meal, I was expecting more. The portions were good, but way overpriced. We were so excited to try this place and left disappointed.”
