“Just had the best fish taco I’ve ever had here (and I try them on pretty much any menu that has one)—the fish was so crisp, light batter, yummy crunchy slaw—seriously so good! The Verdita margarita was excellent as well. Cool atmosphere outdoors with lots of little nooks tucked away, this is a great spot all around.”
“The Baja fish was very fresh with a large, generous piece of fish. The cornbread was one of the best I’ve ever had—buttery, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The smoked pork belly was excellent, juicy and not dry at all, with a rich smoky aroma.”
“Boyfriend and I visited over the weekend from DC and this was truly one of our favorite meals my boyfriend cannot stop talking about the brisket tacos. Great service, Great food, and Great staff! I had a billing issue and Greg was totally awesome helping me out even though they were closed for renovation :’) can’t recommend this place enough to anybody!!”
“Nice spot with lots of outdoor seating. Huge line waiting to get in (first really nice Saturday of the season). We sat outside and ordered as soon as our server came by as we knew what we wanted: the brisket tacos and the terlingua board. We waited almost an hour for our food despite putting our order in right away. Not worth the wait. The brisket tacos…$20 for only two small tacos. They were extremely mid…the brisket I’d give a 6.5/10. Not dry but not great overall tbh. Wildly overpriced for what you get. The board was the same…cornbread was really good, meats were alright (pork shoulder was good, brisket was ok, broccoli rabe pepper jack sausage was disappointing. Maybe needed to be cooked longer for a better taste). We should have known better as New England certainly isn’t known for its barbecue, so one should be wary even of the highly rated bbq places around here, haha. Our bartender at our next spot asked how it was and we said “it was alright, but we wouldn’t go back.””
“I make it a point everytime i visit portland to stop at this place. it is one of the best bbq spots i’ve ever found and i adore it. that being said this past time was pretty disappointing. We ordered the 2 pound board and i was thrilled with how it looked. but as soon as i went to get some of it i noticed it was barely warm. I took a bite of some of it, but was greatly disappointed and doing somthing I never do I asked the waiter if there was any way to get it reheated. I don’t and wouldn’t expect brand new food because that is such a waste. He had the board remade with new food which is extremely generous of him, but when it came back out it was missing sides amd half the sauces it originally came with and again was lukewarm. I was way too embarrassed to have to ask for it to be reheated again so I had some and took the rest home. My partner and i also had to ask about the cactus salad that was never brought back out when the first board was brought back and then had to ask if the mac and cheese was coming out. We are hoping this was just a down night and do plan on returning next time we are in maine. but disappointing that for the $100 dish we were served it barely warm 2 times”
