“If you’re looking for an overnight getaway, you must try The Peacock Inn in Princeton and dine at The Perch. We began dinner with Smoked Old Fashioned in the intimate cocktail lounge then moved to the dining room. We began with an Amuse-Bouche (mini crab cake, homemade pâté, shrimp with remoulade sauce and warm bread and butter) and moved on to our starters, Burrata with spring asparagus and beets over Lola Rossa Salad and Maple Glazed Bacon. For entrees, roasted bronzino with roasted sunchokes, broccolini, carrot-harissa purée over a yogurt dill sauce and lobster tortellini with asparagus, tomato, lemongrass ginger broth with grated black lime. Very unhurried, attentive service and absolutely wonderful food. After dinner, we strolled over to the McCarter Theatre to see “Mrs. Christie.” We got up this morning, enjoyed a delightful continental breakfast before heading home.”

“I brought my mom and two-year-old son to the Peacock Inn for afternoon tea on January 3 as a post-Christmas present. We had a wonderful time and the service and food was excellent. We will definitely be back in the future!”

“Stayed two nights for business and it was a solid choice. Location is hard to beat, walkable to everything in Princeton, and free parking is a genuine bonus in this town. Beds are incredibly comfortable and bathrooms are decent with a nice touch of heated floors. Rooms are on the smaller side and there is some road noise, so go in with the right expectations. Occasionally you can hear - toilet flushing next door. Breakfast is sparse, just a basic continental, so plan to grab something nearby if you need a proper morning meal. Staff were friendly throughout and the restored historic mansion gives it a charm most business hotels just don’t have. For Princeton, where options are limited, the Peacock Inn delivers where it counts.”

“We booked our Valentine's Day dinner at The Perch. The food was good, but the service was poor. Our first course, lobster bisque, was not served warm. The caviar had sunk to the bottom and had an unpleasant texture. We still both enjoyed the rest of the appetizers, the bacon and foie gras dishes. For our main course, we ordered steaks: the surf and turf as well as the ribeye. The steaks and lobster were lukewarm when we received our plates and cold by the end of the meal. Our desserts were okay. Overall, the food was okay, and we understand that it was a busy night. However, the service was horrible. There was always a long wait between courses, and the waiters had to ask us what we had previously because no one was keeping track of which tables were on which course. It also took us a long time to get the check. The whole meal lasted almost three hours, which is more in line with a ten-course menu than a five-course one.”
