We're Kuma on Valencia. Your friendly neighborhood sushi joint. A sister restaurant to our flagship location, Kuma Sushi + Sake on Polk Street. We put out a daily, focused menu with spotlights on the morning's catch, along with curated sake selections. Hope to see you soon!
“First time coming here, sushi was really good and nigiri and sashimi offered a lot of different choices. Very convenient that the hot barley tea comes with refills, because it was honestly really good. The store was a little hard to find, as there is no sign above the door. Otherwise, one of the best sushi places I’ve ever been to! :)”
“Really delicious sushi with a wide and varied menu. We Got the local tofu (very yummy). Chefs nigiri tasting, sashimi tasting and zeitgeist roll. We were split on liking the Nigiri vs Sashimi tasting better, but I liked the Nigiri. Pieces had rice+fish+a little something that really complemented the fish. Zeitgeist roll was so rich and delicious! Like the highest quality fatty drunk food you have ever had. Shrimp Tempura+avocado+eel+fatty tuna it was so decadent.”
“Great vibes, amazing sake, and the food is super fresh and reasonably priced. Hands down the best sushi bar in town!”
“Had dinner with a friend. We reserved in Resy. We ordered to local sake. We also ordered charashi Deluxe, Sashimi Special & a crudo. We sat at the sushi bar and conversed with the sushi chef. The service was good though sometimes the waitress didn’t see us since we were at the bar. The place looks like any sushi restaurant. Clean and organized. We enjoyed all the sushi they served. They didn’t have uni in this day.”
“Always wanted to dine here. Stopped by the other night. Overall, a pleasant experience, but nothing that wowed me. The food was good - but in a city like San Francisco with so many standout sushi spots, it didn’t quite rise to the top. I’ve had better sushi elsewhere in town, so it didn’t leave a lasting impression. Service, on the other hand, was excellent. Friendly, attentive, and everything came out smoothly, no complaints there. The vibe was fine too: comfortable and low-key, but not particularly memorable or unique in a city full of more visually or atmospherically interesting places. All in all, I enjoyed my meal and appreciated the hospitality, but it’s probably not a place I’d go back to. Solid, but not that special for a second visit (to me).”
