“Great option for interesting vegan Chinese food in the Mission, they have menu items that are different then the typical Chinese fare. Appreciate that items are clearly labelled if they are vegan or can by made vegan. There are a good variety of options for vegan apps and mains. Got the vinegar peanuts which were really delicious, difficult to stop eating them, very addicting with the vinegar flavor. The mapo tofu with mushroom was good, not as spicy as expected. The star of our meal was the cabbage with pistachio milk. It's more of a pistachio cream type sauce on top, and the sauce becomes milky as it mixes with the juice that comes out of the cabbage. The cabbage was amazing, very flavorful and delicious with the pistachio sauce, would definitely get this again next time. Service was quick and there was no wait at ~8:30pm on a Thursday night.”
“A unique take on Chinese-Jewish fusion, with a dining room reminiscent of the Lower East Side (New York City). Chongqing Chicken Wings are deep-fried and fragrantly spicy; the crispy tripe add-on is an absolute must. Crispy Golden Mountain Roll is a pleasant surprise, as the crisp comes from spring roll hiding beneath a fresh rice noodle layer. Tingly Mapo Tofu is an all-around crowd pleaser; when enjoyed with white rice, the meal closes with a satisfying comfort. Not your typical Chinese — but, hands-down a winner for its culinary uniqueness.”
“We ordered chicken chow mein and baby back ribs - both delicious! We also ordered a bottle of red that was simply divine, a little bit spenny but worth it. Will definitely be back!”
“Mission Chinese Food has a really cool vibe that immediately stands out. It gives you that classic hole-in-the-wall feeling while still feeling intentional and fun, which adds to the overall experience. The food was great—bold flavors, well executed, and definitely memorable. Everything we tried was satisfying and clearly made with care, making it easy to see why this place has such a strong reputation. Service was good and consistent throughout our visit. Staff was friendly, attentive, and kept things moving smoothly without making us feel rushed. The space itself adds to the charm. It feels relaxed, lively which makes it a great spot for a casual meal or a night out with friends. Mission Chinese Food delivers on vibe, food, and service, we’ll definitely be back.”
“It is a strange place and the food is a twist of classic chinese... well, different for certain. But overall tasty. We had the fried garlic rice, cold noodle with peanut sauce, hot & sour soup, pork belly and fried lamb dumplings. My favorite was the pork belly, but it came with strange presentation with pineapple which wss just watery. Not sure if I'm coming back. But overall nice experience and we enjoyed the meal.”
